Hello I am new here and glad that I found you all!!!!! :D
I am 5 10 female and large boned. My goal weight would make some women cringe :p I have placed my goal as 173, which puts me in the top range of my body mass index for my height. My first mini goal is to get to 179. WOW that is going to feel good and is only 3 pounds away.
Next is 175, then 173. I think that my goals are realistic. I would love to hear from some other tall women who know what I am going through.
Hope to meet you soon!!!!!

Hey Cath!
Another tall woman here!! I am 6'2"! My goal weight is about 165. I am not very worried about the number as long as I am happy. I am almost there. I understand what you mean about your goal making other cringe. I think that a lot!
Wishing you all the best in meeting your goal!

Hello Linda nice to meet you!!!!!!!!!!
WOW you are tall :D that is so cool! I almost feel short :p
What body frame are you! I am large boned. You are almost at your goal. You probably look so thin at that weight!
How long have you been low carbing for!?
Take care and keep in touch

I know, I make lots of people feel short, both gals and guys!! I always tease Dan about being the shortest guy I have dated and he's 6'3"! :D
I have a pretty thin frame. I have been low carbing off and on since April of last year. I do a Cyclical ketogenic Diet, CKD. I did one last year for about a month and then last summer for a while. When I hit my goal, I kind of plunged back into just eating whatever. I started this time on January 1st. My goal is to hit around my target weight and then just up my carbs a bit and keep upping until I find the amount of carbs I can comfortably consume a day while staying at my goal weight--a.k.a maintenance!!
Here are my pictures (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5851) from when I did the first CKD. Don't click on the links, scroll down and over and you will see the before and after pics. I am going to post new pictures when I get back from Hawaii because I look better now (even though I am a few pounds heavier, I much more muscle definition)
Let me know how you are doing!

I saw your pics they are great. You can really tell the difference. Good for you for doing it in a bikini. Not me :p
I hope this Woe works. My pants feel a lot looser than what the scale says so that is good.
Take care

Hi cathlaur and Fern2340! I'm not as tall as the two of you, but I consider myself tall at 5'9 and 1/2. At least I am taller than everyone I know. Even my husband, he is only 5'7. He IS the shortest guy I have ever been with! :D Most people don't understand when I say I want to be 150, to them that is huge. My best friend is a size zero! She can shop in kid sizes! I can't go below a 9/10 at my smallest. I have had to even explain that to my husband several times.
I hated being tall as a kid, but I love it now, I have great legs! :)

I DEFINITELY know where you are coming from! I hated being tall when I was younger! I was taller than all the boys and it made me feel weird when we slow danced!
I played basketball so I have always had some tall friends! But I am definitely taller than most people I meet!
I like being tall now. I think it makes me unique!! :D More and more stores are coming out with tall sizes in pants so I like the long legs now too!!
Thanks for the compliments Cath! I love the feeling of my pants fitting looser!!!!
YEAH--tall girls rule! LOL

Oh being tall was torture for me. I was ALWAYS taller than the boys. I loved sports so I always had to prove myself. So I ran faster, threw the ball farther, and so on. On top of all that I have red curly hair. Boy did I get teased for that too, carrot top, red headed step child. But I'll tell you as an adult, when I am my smaller weight, those same "boys" just about die for a tall, long legged, redhead! Revenge is sweet!
About the pants coming in tall, they are too long for me, and regulars are normally too short! They need to do for women like they do for men, and make all sizes for length.
Also Linda, I saw your pictures, that is a big difference! Great job!

Like the two of you I hated being tall when I was younger. I don't mind it at all now. Though I hate my shoulders as they are huge. Unfortunatley no matter how much I lose they will always be with me. It would be nice to have them look a little smaller.
I am also very athletic which helped a lot. Competetive Swimming and Basketball throughout University. As for red hair not!!!!! Ilet mine go natural as I had been dieing it. 35 soon to be 36 and I am very grey. It is curly though so it is kind of cool. I found you can still look in style and have grey hair. Hubby likes it to.
Keep in touch. I lost another pound Yippeeeeeeee. Though I just want to get out of the 180's into the 70s, now that will be nice!
Have a super day

Hiya!! I'm 5 11 (6ft in Docs, hehe) and knew it was time to do something when I started to creep out of the misses sizes, which is not hard at my height I guess. It kind of sucks that shorter women can be overweight and still fit into the young women's fashion gear.
I really want to be back to about the size I was when I started college (I'm 24). I've promised myself expensive new jeans and lingerie!!! :daze:

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say I'm glad there is a site like this for us. Being tall can be an advantage as well as a disadvantage. I'm 5'10. I can relate to the times I was in school too and the awkwardness about being taller than everyone. I have a sister who is 8 yrs. old and she towers over everyone in class too. I assure her that being tall is beautiful ad feel good about being different. I make sure I'm there for her to talk to. I had noone who understood me. It was hard when you had crushes on boys that didn't like you because you're tall. So I'm glad I have you beautiful people to talk to.

For this thread I guess I write that I'm ONLY 5"9.5". hehe. I love being tall, always have. Great for sports (except gymnastics), now that many clothes companies have realized that women are taller than 5'5" we have some many more options. Heck, I even sport 3" heels just to look even taller...lol
Another thing that's nice about being tall - we can gain 5 lbs and have no one notice - that's not the case w/ petite people.
Glad to see that there are a lot of us out there.

I too carry my weight "well". If there is such a thing. ;) Where do you all carry your extra weight? I seem to in my middle and back. No matter what weight I am, my legs all ways seem to stay in great shape.
Also I have always had a problem with my posture. I can still hear my mother from when I was a child telling me to stand up straight. I think I slouch to make myself shorter. I've been working on that.

My "extra" weight tends to stay in the love handle/hip area. I'd probably never be happy with that area no matter what!

Stumbled on this while surfin' this site. I'm 5'11". I've always gotten compliments on my legs but I swear I hold every extra pound between my upper abdomen (right under bra) and my butt. Oh well it'll come off eventually.
Glad to hear there's some tall women out there even though I really enjoy looking over short girl's heads!
Congrats on the LC'ing

Hi ladies,
Not sure if I should be "allowed" to post here, as I am only 5'8.5"! It has always seemed tall to me, as I tower over my mother and my father isn't very tall either! (So much for genetics... :) )
Being a tall woman is fabulous, though, and I can name probably about four million reasons, but here's a few:
1) The previosly mentioned ability to "wear our weight well" I weighed 180 pounds and was still a size 14. When the poundage spreads, it "spreads thin!"
2) Looooooonnnggggg legs :D
3) Being able to eat a lot more food than shorter women, due to higher metabolic rate.
4) The fact that most high fashion clothing (couture, etc) is made for tall girls (Hey, you can't be a model unless you are at least 5'8", even plus-sized models!).
5) High shelves. My friend Edith, who is five feet nothing tall, has to always ask people to get dishes down from her own kitchen, like she's a little kid.
6) Crowded bars and concert halls are a cinch. No need to stand on tip toes! No heads blocking your view.
7) I heard in a sociology class once that tall people are percieved as being "more competant and smarter" than shorter people (both men and women), and are more likely to be hired for a job . Now, we all now that's prejudiced and untrue, but hey.....as a tall girl, I don't mind reaping the benefits!
I don't mean to be ripping on our short friends, but I  towering over people. The views great from up here.

Hey you know what else I hate? A little personal, but. I HATE when you get bigger so does your underwear. My underwear used to barely even be fabric. Now they look like surrender white flags! What happened!? When I get smaller I am doing a big Victoria Secret shopping spree! (Not only to the delight of my husband.)
Yes I know this has nothing to do with being tall, I am venting here people!! :D
fern2340
Thu, Apr-04-02, 12:33
You are too funny!! Definitely not too personal... underwear is a favorite topic of mine! Honestly! I buy underwear all the time. Fortunately, I wear a 6 or 7 depending on the type but I just love it! I have an over-flowing drawer full of it (cotton, satin, bikini, thing)--you name it I have it :)
Hello, my name is Linda and I am an underwear-aholic!!
CrazyCurly
Thu, Apr-04-02, 12:42
......then you have kids and your underwear suffers.... :D It's like birth to your kids, death to your wardrobe. Not kidding! My kids have WAY too many shoes, but me? Not very many!
Really I LOVE clothes, underwear included. :) Just when I gain weight, I don't buy it, I feel like it is a waste. I know I am going to lose it, so why spend the money. That and shopping while I am bigger depresses me big time.

Ahhhhh..I think I've found a home...lol.
5'10" here. I've also described myself, on occasion, as a football player too...lol.
I'm very big boned as well. I remember once, I slipped getting into the shower, and whapped my leg against the side of the tub. I had a huge bruise and a sizable knot on it, so when I went to work that day (worked in a doctor's office), I had them take an x-ray of my shinn bone. When the doc looked at it, he said, "you've got some of the biggest bones I've ever seen woman"...lol. Anyway, was just a bruise.
I seem to have difficulty finding jeans long enough for me. It's getting easier now days, but I can remember years when I'd have to hunt for hours looking for something to hit the top of my foot.
I also totally relate to the "goal weight" issue. It's so funny to me when women freak when I say I want to get down to 180....lol.
It never really bothered me much being tall when I was in high school. I kinda liked the power it gave me. NO ONE ever messed with me...lol.
I'm so glad I found you all. Will be nice going through this journey with women who can relate to some of the other special issues we face as amazons.

Hello!
Mind if I hop on board??
I'm new here, but not to low carbing! I'm half way there and I need that little extra push of support to get to goal. I think being tall (5'11") with a very large frame keeps me looking pretty good right now, but I know I need to loose more!
I hated being tall until later in high school when the boys caught up!! :D I love it now. I don't even slouch anyore, which isn't easy with the chest I have!
I guess you can say I'm an apple. I carry my weight in my chest, back and belly.
I remember having so many friends that were little and when the bullies messed with them, I would just sort of get in their faces until they backed down! They were afraid of me just because of my size!! The funny part is I'm such a wuss!! I've NEVER been in a fight ever!! It was funny that they were so afraid of me!!
I'm seeing so many more tall girls now. Kids are maturing so early. I was the tallest kid in the whole school until 11th grade!! Kid of annoying because there was only one boy I could "like"!!! :D
I could go on all day, but I'll stop now!!
Looking foward to low carbing with you all!!!

They are growing so much faster now aren't they! About the 1 boy thing, :D, I do know that feeling! I remember having very few to pick from! I swore I would NEVER date a guy shorter than I. It is such a better feeling when they are taller. Then..... I married my husband, he's only 5'7!!! I still am not totally used to it. He loves it, what guy wouldn't?! :D

Hi Jess!
My husband is just an inch or so taller than me! I keep telling him to stand up taller to make me look shorter!! Silly, huh? :D
My son is 10 and he's already 5'4"!! Tallest kid in his grade and almost in the whole school!! Talk about maturing fast!
I've been LCing for over 2 years on and off. Recently mostly on. I got strict for my wedding which was a month ago. I gained 20 lbs right after because I wanted to give myself a break. BIG mistake. I gained 20 lbs and felt awful!! I'm feeling so much better now. No more headaches or bloating!!

Leslie, you look great!!!! Wow what a difference! Congratulations on your wedding! What an exciting time for you!
Your son sure is tall. I think it is different for boys growing up and being tall. My "little" brother is 18 and 6'2"! Every time I see him he has grown an inch. My Great Grandmother was 6'5", talk about a tall goddess! The weird thing is that I am taller than both my parents, what about yours?
Glad you are feeling better. :) Since as you put it you have been eating this way off and on, does the weight loss slow down? Like you are not losing now as fast as the first time around? Just wondering because i have seen some people say that.

6'5"!!! That's incerdible!! I always feel so weird and smalll when I'm around women taller than me. It's hard to describe, but I feel funny. My mom is 5'6" and my dad was 6'. I have one aunt that's 5'10" and other than her and me, everyone in my family is pretty average.
I'm definitely not loosing as fast now as the very first time I started. I'm sure because at first I was SO STRICT!!! Now I have a tablesppon of peanut better here, a pack of macadamia nuts there. I tend to snack a lot more now where as before I had the "diet" mentality. I'm fine with this rate. I'll be eating like this for a long time. The wedding is over. There's not a big rush for me to loose weight now. :)

I thought of another reason it's cool to be tall. I had to go back 2 pages to catch up on all the tall girl gossip;)
Fern, I'm feeling you on the wedding thing - I am just waiting for the ring too. I'm thinkin' Christmas time, but I'll wait until he can afford me (I mean it;) ). By the way, I'm the girl that messaged you about living inBlue Bell, PA...that message was from a long time ago. I'm finishing up college in May and then moving to Memphis (w/ my bf) so I guess I won't be saying I'm from Phili anymore :(
So how long has everybody been together w/ their hubbies and bfs? I love that my bf has seen me at my heaviest and never cared. I mean now admits that I may have 'gained a few' after meeting him - that 'few' was forty pounds...lol.
Another thing girls, I'm jealous, my weight hits me not only on the tummy area, but also the thighs:( I swear when I was at my heaviest (that was 173...I started WOL Oct. 11th, 2001 and went down to 139.5, and then took a little detour), I never looked 5'9.5" b/c my big'ol thighs drew everyone's eyes downward - does that make sense? Anyway, things are different now - I look taller when I'm thinner...my football body has changed, but I did get my share of powderpuff football games in there during highschool:)
Well just wanted to say 'hi' since I hadn't stopped in recently

And what a wonderful wedding shot. I'm so glad you shared with us. :)
I didn't have quite the same problem dating in high school. I grew up in the country and we grew our guys pretty big there....all that meat and potatoes. I only had one b/f that was shorter than me, but he had an awesome car, so that made up for the fact that he was height challenged...lol.
It's great to meet you Linda and Erin. I'm so glad I found all of you tall ladies.

Glad you stopped in! I have been with Dan for 1 yr and 3 months. I have been told that it should be before July but we'll see..... He is trying to keep it hush hush (of course!) but we have talked about getting married, etc...
I think the most of my weight is in my hips also unfortunately. I am not happy with my stomach but I really want it all to go away! (But don't we all!)

Hi Girls!!
I had a rough weekend. I went off plan at the Thai Festival! I have a weakness for Thai food. I had just the meat on skewers, but it must have had a lot of sugar on it because later my resistance was low and I weant a little crazy!! :( I did gain, but then I ate at this restaurant and must have got food poisening or something bacause I was up all night Sunday and monday diring the day throwing up!! :( So I'm now back to my pre-binge weight!! lol
Linda, I proposed to him!! We have been together for over 5 years. He kept telling me for over 6 months he was going to propose to me, then all the good proposal days past. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. I thought Valentines Day, but then I figured, I'd just ask him. He said yes and that he couldn't think of any cool way to do it!!! He was glad I asked him! :)
How is everyone else doing??

Jess, (that's correct, right? :D ) I always feel blah when I eat too many carbs. As much as I love them, I know that they're so bad for me!
I tend to use my height and my size as an excuse to eat more! I know I can eat more than someone that's 5'3" and a size 2, but I wind up eating more carbs too and them I loose resistance and wind up cheating! I need to work on that!!

Leslie, do you keep track of your calories? I eat too much too. I know I can out eat my husband. That is a big reason I picked Atkins because I don't feel as deprived as when I was low fat eating.
Okay I'll say it, I'm a PIG! I eat HUGE portions of food. I have been working on cutting back. kinda. ;)

Thanks Jess. R u the one who's husband is shorter than u, just like mine? my husband is at least a few inches shorter after I only dated men that towered over me my whole life too. married now for about a year and a half. luckily he LC'ing too right now. he actually started before me by a few weeks. helping to make it easier for both of us i think. any good tips for me since I am only a beginner?

Hi Iris, Yes my husband is only 5' 7". I have been married for a couple of years and I'm still not used to his height! :) He started Lc'ing the day after I on Jan 26. His stats are- started at 240 pounds, now 205, 27 years old, and short (just kidding). The real reason I found Atkins is because he couldn't do low fat. I would start a low fat diet and he would break me in about a week by him pigging out on foods I could not have. So I thought this might work, and it has!
As for tips, the best one I can think of is EAT! Really! If I get hungry, I think about no-no foods. So what I have learned is that if my cravings get bad, I eat chicken! It works I promise.
2.Also drink your water!
3.When you cook, make enough for left overs, that way you don't always feel like you are cooking all the time. Alright, I'm lazy! I don't like to have to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner.
4. Find new recipes, if you are going to make it a Way of Life, you have to change the way you cook. Also you won't get bored of the same foods.
5. Fing a great support system. I started a journal here and I have found such great support in it! I have made some really cool friends that make me want to better myself and they cheer me on while I am doing it. (Are you blushing Linda? :D)
6. Find what inspires you. A old picture, a pair of pants that you want to fit into, before and after photos and use them. (Okay nobody laugh, my size 12's that I am using as my 1st goal, I am sitting in them now! Yes they are a little too tight, but I was having a hard day and I needed a little boost! :) Hey at least I can zipp them up! I started out almost having to buy 18 because my 16's were WAY too tight. If you do try this, don't, I repeat, don't wear the way too tight pants out in public! :D Hey but I bet I won't eat those chocolate chip cookies that are in the pantry. If it works, it works!)
Alright, I'm sure I will think of more.

Hi Iris and welcome!! I started about where you are and all I can tell you is that this WILL work!! Just be strong and stick with it!!
Jess, I never keep track of my calories and I haven't even really kept track of my carbs in a long long time! I know it's bad. But I'm lazy too!! :D
I would KILL to be in a size 12 jeans!!! OK, maybe not kill, but that is my GOAL!! 12 or a 14! I'm pretty comfy in my 18's now. A far cry form my tight 26's!! :D I'll get there!!!
My husband is about an inch taller than me, and I must confess, I would love it if he were taller! But don't tell him. I once dated a guy that was 6'9" and the only reason I did it was because I could buy high heels!!!!!!
Hope you all enjoy the weekend!!!

Yep!! but right back at you.... I find the support here amazing and I have met so many wonderful people that inspire me to want to keep it up and reach my goal! Ha ha Jess, got you back!
As far as the pants thing goes, at my heaviest I was like 196 (this is back a few yrs ago) and I wwould wear men's jeans... anything baggy! I think I was a woman's 14. (which I still have some that I wear when I want loose pants on) Now I am a 12. I have been at 165 before and I was still a 12 then. I think I am going to be a 12 for life. It is so funny to me b/c some people think that a size 12 is so big!! I don't think this 6'2" frame (ok, ok especially my hips and bum) are fitting into anything smaller!!!

OH, and by the way, I have a ton of cute shoes that have like 2-3 inch heels that I only wear when I go out with just the girls or if I wear my boots to work! Dan is only an inch taller than me so I wear the flats or tiny heels with him!!

I'll tell you what, the last pictures I saw of you (in Hawaii) I thought you looked WONDERFUL! You looked very in shape. I know that we are about the same size (other than a couple of inches in height) and I look NOTHING like you! I've got buldges in places that I shouldn't! You wouldn't catch this girl in a bikini for anything! (Having babies helped some in this area!) Don't they say that a 12 is the "average size" for women now? And with you being taller than the "average" woman that makes it like a size 6. So I think you look great. So there!

Hey where'd everybody go??? I was busy reading all the interesting posts and then BLAM! Nothing. Oh well, maybe I'll try to get things going again! :)
I'm 5'10 but I'm significantly larger than any of you all. I do have a large frame but yeah, mostly just need to lose weight. Earlier in the posts you all were talking about where you carry your weight WHHHOOOWWWW!!! I'm ALLLLLLLLLL about the big BUTT, HIPS AND THIGHS!!! And even though I'm tall I do NOT have nice legs. I have always wanted and admired nice legs. I have fat knees and my calves are so undefined. BUT I do have to say that I'm happy that my face looks thin. So that's a plus.
I have always loved being tall. And to go back to an earlier topic regarding goal weight and how it differs for tall women...my goal is 200 pounds, I'm thinking that will put me at a size16 or so. I looked sooooo good at a 16. I have no desire to be "thin" I like being tall and a little on the thicker side. But I would like to be a more MARKETABLE size. I'd like to take a really good shot at plus sized modeling. I had some success as a size 26/28 but that's just too big for any serious modeling. SO!!! We'll see what happens!
Anyways, enough of my rambling!! I'm glad I found you all and I hope you return soon to talk with me!!!
BTW, Linda you look great!!!! You also look like Edie Brickell in your picture, do you hear that a lot????
Peace,

Edie Brickell? No one has ever told me that. Honestly, I didn't even know who she was so I just had to search the Internet. Silly me!!
Anyway, you look unbelievable. Modeling-- that is so great!! I think you look great now. I hope you can achieve your goals and do the work you want to!!

wanna laugh? Have you seen those commericals for the cell phone, I forget which one. In one the guy sleep walks and they tape the phone to his waist so they can wake him up? Also the one where the father makes his under age daughter wear the phone on her dress in a club. So that way he can tell guys who hit on her that she is under age? When I read your post I could picture you wearing the phone on your belt and me sitting here and telling you all day. "You are smart." "You are great." Can you imagine the peoples faces around you!!! Oh my gosh that would be so funny.

Hey Linda and Jess thank you SO much for the warm welcome and the wonderful compliments!!!!! Jeez, I didn't know I COULD blush!!! I think I'm more "photogenic" than drop dead gorgeous! I don't even have a boyfriend so FAT LOT it's doing me any good anyway! LOL!!! :p
So, what have you all been doing for exercise??? I know Linda is on a special program that adds toining and cardio exercises right?? I don't think I could last on that one. I abhor weights. I've been thinking about buying one of those resistance bands though. Anyone use those??
Right now I'm only doing aeroboxing (think Tae Bo but without all the obscene bulges and spandex!! LOL!) twice a week. I'd like to add tennis but I'm having a hard time finding a partner. I was doing belly dancing but it has kinda slowed down now.
I have noticed that people who add a strenuous regimen are losing weight at a really nice rate. I feel like a slug having only lost 46 pounds in almost eight months!!!
Well, at least I'm not gaining I guess!
have a great day and I'll talk to you all later!!!!!

Check out the exercise forum. I posted a resistance band thread a while ago and I know there were people who use them.
Take care!

That's when my extra pounds were noticed.
Wow soinwi, I didn't know that about jump rope. When I begin to see cellulite on my body, that was my wake-up call that I needed to do something. Jumping rope is the hardest exercise I think i have ever done!!! And it took me a long time to get to 3 mins. And I still have to jump with both feet I still can't seem to alternated by shifting my weight--you know like boxers do--I'm not that coordinated yet. For those who haven't tried it I invite you to try--it's fun and hard~~ I like new ways to challenge my body and this is defiently one of them!!!

Thu, Jul-18-02, 14:37
Hello there, Gail here, measuring in at 5'10". Just found this thread ... Love it.
As for carrying weight well on such a tall frame - well me too! But how I wish NOT. It was because I carried it so well and didn't own a scale that helped me get into the predictment I am.
In my 20s, I was considered quite the hottie and was a 10 - 12 then. I remember when I got into a 9 and how sickly people thought I looked, co workers called me a twig. So when the kids came and I started wearing 14 - 16, so I thought big deal how much bigger could I be after all it is just a size or two. That is until I saw the Christmas video my Dad made of our family gathering. YIKERS!
Needless to say ... started Akins one week later. Now 40 pounds down, virtually pain free in getting here. Those who didn't know I was dieting have begun to notice. I figure I will continue for another 30 - 40 lbs.
Great to read everyone's posts, hope to meet each of you.

wonder if i "fit in" i'm 5 ft, 8 in. and very large boned. people always think im 5ft. 10 or so. very large shoulders, large back, i dont wear tank tops even with big straps, all u see are SHOULDERS coming your way. i just stared atkins march 2 of this year. weighed 185, want to go down to 155 or so, maybe 160. believe it or not at that weight i'll be able to fit in size 10 pants. and ill look very athletic. size 10-12 is the smallest pants size ive ever fit into, even when i was in great shape!!! people always think i'm 1-2 pants-size smaller than i am when i'm that weight. i have a very hour glass figure, always wanted to look like a ballet dancer. maybe in the next life!! :D

well ive been on atkins for 2 1/2 weeks and lost 8 lbs. 1rst time i weighed myself because i dont own a scale (and dont want 1 either) i weighed myself because i took my mother to her doctors appointment before atkins, and now 2 1/2 weeks later i went to my own doctors appointment (different doctor) and weighed myself. i can see how addicting weighing yourself can be and how some people weigh themsives every day or week and how it can make a person bummed out if they didnt lose weight after following it to the letter. i have to take my mother back to her doctor next tuesday which will be 1 week after i weighed myself and wonder if i should weigh myself again or not.

I did most of my growing during my elementary school years, so was always taller than all of the boys in my grade. Magic thing happened when I went off to high school - there were two girls taller than me!!! I was in complete heaven! lol
My worst growth spurt was during grade 1 when I grew 7 inches between September and June. My poor head just couldn't keep up balance-wise with my body. I hit the ground a lot, and I don't mean with my fist! ;) Various physical problems occured later because of my leg growth being different (left and right). I just HATED being tall"ish". Now it has it's benefits, of course, but still a few negatives - not only am I the tallest at work and am always called to get things off the top shelves, everyone leaves the adjustable lights (exam, surgery, etc) too low, and if I'm not careful, I end up seeing stars the non-astronomy way! lol

Hi Girls,
Out of all the differant forums I've been reading through the last few days, since I started Induction... this seems to be the most 'relevant' to me. So a big THANK YOU for starting it, and keeping it alive.
I measure in at 5'10 and at the moment 214 (I'm down 3 lbs, yay). I've always... thought I was overweight, now obviously.. but even in highschool and on into college. In highschool I weighed around 145 - 150 and wore a size 12, which compared to my size 4 - 6 friends (shorter too) I thought myself obese. Then in college I thought I found a lump in my breast and went to see a doctor about it. He found nothing but told me I need to start a diet, and stick with lots of salads.... I weighed 160 at the time. Talk about scarring. Now that I'm over 200 lbs, I look back and see that not only was I wrong, but.. what the heck was my doctor thinking? The only thing I can come up with was.. I was sitting on the examining table and he noticed the 160 and thought I was shorter? Who knows...
Like alot of you, I dispised my height growing up.. but now I really do appreciate it. Let me tell you, it was a happy day when capri's were back in style.
I'll continue to peek in here, and its nice to meet you all.

:) Hi I just found this thread and am so pleased that not everyone is trying to get down to 140lbs or less because that is impossible for me and I would look terrible. I am 5ft11 and my goal weight is 167.2lbs. I have had three kids and am vegetarian and found since having baby number 3 ,4yrs ago and eating nothing but carbs I have struggled with my weight. Even tho I excersise 3-5 times a week. Since Low carbing (started 10-8-04) I have already lost 13.2lbs  and feel better in myself and around the tummy. I will never be like Kylie Minogue but maybe a curvey JLo
