1. I am new to the forum, so I just want to say hi... Hi!
2. I am 6'3" and weigh somewhere above 420lbs, thanks to j13 I knew
which scale to buy and my wife let me get it even though its "omg"
expensive.
3. I know I want to get down to at least 250, that will be my first big goal.
4. All of my health numbers were average, except blood pressure 129/95
this past August which was when I went to the doctor last, he said "don't
come back unless you're dying cause there's nothing wrong with you, and
oh yeah, lose some weight."
I have been fat pretty much all of my life and I have been listeneing to people tell me how bad it is to be fat, but until I reached 31 I just knew they were all full of crap because I couldn't imagine feeling any better than I did. I always had energy, I always played sports and competed with others and did well at games I played (football, soccer, softball, karate,etc...). I have always felt strong, strong enough to handle any business that came my way. That is, until I turned 31. I woke up one morning with absolutely no warning and someone had hit me with a ton of bricks and filled my veins with syrup (if I ever find out who it was they will be sorry), my fire was gone. My right knee was talking to me about a bike accident I had about a year earlier. My back was telling me about the time I was hit by a car a few years ago. It seems like every week its something else, little signs that physically im going down hill. I walked to my sisters house earlier this week, and had a pain in my side when I got there... its just three blocks away. This pisses me off to no end. I have always told myself that as long as I'm in shape I could be as fat as I wanted. Well guess what, no amount of "in shape" can handle this amount of fat. I need to make a change, its gotta be a big change cause im a big man. But, I have hope. ttyl.
ps. this rant contains no editing so it might not flow well.

Welcome to the club, skeetor! You'll find some great support here! I check in almost everyday and started a journal just to track what I'm doing and boy has that helped so far. After only a few days I felt all my body pains go away, thanks to the gluten getting out of my system. It's been a spectacular ride so far and I'm actually looking forward to every day now. You're going to do great, so keep up the great work and let us know how you're doing!

Welcome Skeetor! I know what you mean, my body started giving out on me about that age too. In fact I sort of "blew out" my knee which has given me problems ever since. Now my so called "good knee" hurts too. I'm looking forward to shedding this excess fat and hopefully not having anymore joint pain. We can do it!

Welcome, Skeeter! I have a bad knee, no cartilage at all, just bone on bone basically, and my daughter said loose weight or get a knee replacement---well they only last about 10 years and can't be redone, so here I am losing weight instead.
A couple of words of advice if I may:
1. Start a journal and talk about what you're going through. People may or may not visit, it's really for you, but if people do visit (I will!) you will start making friends that will really help you on this journey.
2. Stay here and post--the Triple Digits section is all about people like you and me that have a lot of weight to lose, and it is a terrific group of people!!
3. Decide to really believe in this way of life, and embrace it not as a "diet" but as a lifestyle that really works. Make good choices, see results, don't falter if the scale doesn't move every day, take notice of the changes you FEEL, and way your body begins to change.
4. Absolutely realize down to your core that you are completely and solidly worth doing this for.
We are all here for you, this is such a good thing you are doing!!!

Correction (I just read my post---argh!) It was my doctor not my daughter.
Although my daughter is very supportive of what I'm doing!!

Around here (South Central PA) have a saying for what you and most of us have gone through.... Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart...
But at least we got smart. I'll be looking for your journal...reading about your success.

Thanks all, I will be starting the journal thing tomorrow, It sounds like fun actually.
And I am both looking forward and dreading the arrivial of my new scale via the post office. Maybe tomorrow, but more like tuesday or wednesday.
Today is my first real day on LC, and I really can't say that there is anything else I want to eat. I walked for 1.5 miles with the wife and everything seemed to work out ok (ie. nothing fell off, lol). However I will have to get some tighter shorts as there was a small threat of chafing in "that" area.

pretty good. eating well, keeping my carbs down (way down), not finding myself hungry. I am finding that I need my scale to get here soon, lol. I need some kind visual because I look in the mirror everyday and will never be able to see a difference. I'm very mucha numbers kind of guy, I guess I could measure myself in different places, that might help. And I know at some point I will not lose weight in maybe a week but still might lose inches so it would help then too. Lots of expectations are building up in my head. but I have hope.
