After my doctor's visit yesterday, I am now off my Metformin. He told me that as I lose weight and exercise, my body is reverting to a more "non-diabetic" state and that the Metformin is ceasing to become effective as my body is becoming less insulin resistant on it's own! He did an A1C this time, so I'll get the results next time and then do another in 3 months to compare. If my BG remains good, then I can stay off the Metformin! My blood pressure was sitting at a fairly good 115/78, so I'm happy about that! All in all, a very good visit and makes me reaffirm why I'm following this WOL! Now if I could just get this weight moving again, I'm sure I'd see some additional great things happening!

Congrats. Hopefully most of your medical problems will go away, or at least, greatly diminish.

That is amazing news not many people can do that reverse the disease process. You really need to be commended. I have a family history of Diabetes and am very concerned about getting it. It is one disease that we can control. More people should be watching.

I agree. Type 2 is mostly diet -- type 1 is a real disease. I don't know much about type 1 - but my understanding is that even it is helped by low carb diet. You are in the right section to find out!

Don't fool yourself Type 2 is the start of the disease process. Your body has started to not process sugars well and it is starting to leave it in the blood vessels. By eating a healthy diet Low Carbs you can have a healthy life an control your blood sugars.

Oh, I'm not fooling myself at all 33lbs. I've been diabetic for 11 years now and I know how serious this is and I don't take it lightly. I keep myself informed, I eat right (most of the time...I'm not perfect and do have my slips), I exercise, I take vitamins and supplements and I visit my doctor and get all the necessary testing. I found L/Cing after about the first year of being diagnosed, where I was doing everything they were telling me to do and nothing was working. Then I took matters into my own hands! :D
