Hi Everyone

This is my first post & I know I have not introduced myself properly but I have just made a discovery which, I am sure you all know about, but it has solved the 'why isn't Atkins really working for me?' question and just may help someone else out.

I am a lurking newbie who has been following Atkins for 5 or 6 weeks now with varying degrees of success. I have read many success stories here with an increasing 'what's wrong with me?' attitude. :help:

Today I discovered calorieking.com.au I was frantically searching for an Aussie version of fitday.com and stumbled across a link to calorieking. It is free and I can program it to count my carbs for me

To my utter horror & dismay I discovered that my 4 cups of coffee per day completely wiped out my daily carb count. What? HUH?? Oh s**t!!! :q: :q: I also found out my other treat, sweet chilli sauce, has about 800 million carbs :help:

But.......... now I am on my way to TRUE low carbing. I may even fill out my profile properly when my fat butt starts to slide away

I am so sorry if this is common knowledge for everyone but I am REALLY excited now and feel today is TRUELY day One of Atkins for me

Thanks for reading........ if you made it this far

Hi there Cranky, and welcome. :)

I wouldn't worry too much about your coffee. The carb count will depend on what you put in it, and a splash of cream and a Splenda tablet or two shouldn't do too much damage.

As for the sweet chilli sauce, the word "sweet" is a bit of a giveaway there. ;) One of the most important things you'll learn about low carbing is to read every label. Manufacturers sneak sugar and/or flour into the most amazing products!

All the best to you, matey.

Hi Cranky,
I have been a member of CalorieKing for a couple of years, even though the dietitians there don't support the low carb system, their food diary is the best Australian counter there is on line,I find it a bit strange that people tell me that aust food labels deduct the fibre for us, :help: why is there a special "eff Carb" setting I wonder? :q: any how I think I will just follow their food diary and put down their totals. They have been pretty accurate over the many years they have been in business.
Anyhow I hope to see you and others on this forum more often, lets see if we can all brighten it up and give the founders some support.
Cheers. Nev

Guys, the real issue is that people somehow believe they can eat unlimited stuff provided the carbs are low. Wrong. You will stall, every time. The only wayt to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than you consume. But the Rosemaryu Stantons of the world and other 'sugar -diet' pushers will have you eat bread and potatoes and all that stuff, ie - everything that converts to sugar. Low carb combined with low cal is absolutely a winner.
