hi there

i'm getting ready to do some LC baking and the one thing i can't find is a molasses flavoring that isn't actual molasses. it's a common ingredient in baking, you'd think there would be a molasses extract, flavoring, sugar free syrup, but i haven't found anything, not one product. you'd think davinchi or torani would have covered this one by now. i did see gingerbread flavoring, and maybe i'll have to go with that, but i had a different non ginger recipe i wanted the molasses for. has anyone got an inside line on molasses flavoring?

any help is much appreciated :)

have a fab and fit day! :D :hyper: :yay: :wiggle: :D

I vote just use blackstrap molasses itself. A small bit goes along way with flavour.

I use the blackstrap molasses too, and many other LCers do for baking. But if you really need maple flavor, Lorann oils has a maple flavored oil. Its much more concetrated than an extract so a small amoung goes a long way. You can buy them at thier website or on that popular auction site. (Not sure if we are allowed to post links here and I dont want to get in trouble)

If you are going with one of the SF Davinci syrups you will find the Spice flavor much better than the Gingerbread.....IMHO

Molasses extract is a common ingredient in cosmetics, cigarettes, and cattle feed. You might want to try a Farm Cooperative store. I think they sell it to farmers/ranchers who want to spray hay with it to increase the appetite of the cattle.

The things you learn from googling....

LorAnn Oils also has a caramel flavor if that's the effect you're going after. I also use blackstrap molasses too though--just very small amounts.
