She said, while soaking French bread for a salad she was so cranky on "that high-protein low-carbohydrate diet." Yesterday she had a diet expert on Dr. Timothy Brantley who said it makes your blood acid, drives out the oxygen and causes cancer. Its no wonder we can't get any respect with all this nonsense constantly in the mainstream media!

I really like Rachel Ray, but that statement stinks! We all know that our woe doesn't clog our arteries, that is simply untrue. Ketones take the fat out of your body! I think my 133 cholestrol count proves that fact.

'Dr.' Brantley should not be allowed to use the title 'Doctor'. His degrees are from mail-order type schools. He has (and could not get) a license to practise medicine.

I DON'T like Rachel Ray, and this just compounds it. Ignorance is bliss, or is it idiocy?

Perhaps she went on that "high-protein low-carbohydrate diet" in order to lose a few pounds to pose for Maxim???????

While i USED to like Rachael Ray, I've lost all respect for that "family friendly" gal after she was the cover girl for Maxim. Come on, Rachael, dont you have enough cash??

OK, sorry for my vent. But wait! Top that off with her "Get Real Meals" cookbook -- her 2 cents on low carb -- that includes pasta. Duh!

I haven't seen the cover. Is it online somewhere?

I can tell you this: there is a book of hers in Costco and the image has been 'shaved' to make her look smaller (it's easy to do with any photo editing program). I can tell by the way the folds of the shirt lie as they travel down her body. It disgusted me that she is so "I'm not trying to have the perfect body" and allow her photos to be altered to make her look slimmer. Puh-leeze! It may fool most people, but not me!

Was it Maxim or FHM?

Not Maxim, it was FHM magazine (which is a distinction without a difference, except maybe to their publishers).

I didn't see a cover when I hit Google Image Search for "rachael ray fhm". But yes, the pictures from that photo shoot are definitely online, ElleH.

I did an image search on Yahoo! and found a bunch of pics. In her defense, they are from 2005 which is before she really got mainstream.

Not to be mean but Rachel has always looked a bit bottom heavy to me. She carries it in her hips. NOT saying she doesn't look okay but just that she might consider searching for a way to keep it under control cause I have a feeling she will spread as she ages. Especially should she get pregnant.

Actually, that's the only thing she has done that I liked.

I didn't know all these little tid bits about miss prissy pants. I should remember that I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, hmmmm... I lost respect for one of my fave trek girls too when she went into Playboy.

LOL! Whoops, I guess I had the wrong magazine too -- just goes to show that I'm not reading them :) Let's hope the publishers don't move on to a "Women of the Food NEtwork" series.....

I wish I could "shave" my photos! My photo program does not have that option !!

Naturopaths don't practice medicine, nor do they "treat" disease....in the US a naturopathic doctor (ND) is well within legal right to use "Dr." as his/her title, as is someone who earns a PhD....who also can't practice medicine and is also called "doctor" when addressed.

Still and all, sometimes Rachel Ray does something very LC-friendly. I remember one steak and salad meal that I made after seeing her show - I think there were herbs chopped into the salad - and it was great.

i certainly agree, and my fiance loves the mashed cauliflower that i make thanks to her show... ALL the food network chefs make stuff that's low-carb friendly... well maybe not mario batali, but you know what i mean :).

the problem becomes when they keep perpetrating the hype that low-carb is bad for us. we know better. medical science knows better. the more they bash it, the less likely i am to watch anything attached to them.
