However, after stepping off the scale today, I found that I gained about 3-4 lbs this week. I don't know what I'm doing wrong-they were all induction low-carb meals throughout the week and I got plenty of exercise with snowfall of 8-10" to take care of all weekend. It's frustrating at the least. Does anyone have any ideas as to why there would be weight gain after the first two weeks?

Didn't you just eat out a restaurant this weekend or recently for your b-day? Restaurant food causes me to gain weight (water weight), even if I eat perfectly on plan. God only knows what they add to their food!
I shoveled a bunch of snow yesterday, too, and I was up a pound today. I assumed it was b/c my muscles had taken a "hit" they're not used to and perhaps retaining water from that.
This is one of the reasons I'm a big fan of weighing yourself every day. You could definitely see what happened earlier and see the trend rather than a "snapshot" once a week. If you had weighed yourself before you went out, I'll just bet it showed that you were down in weight.

I haven't been to the restaurant yet, that will be Wednesday.
A couple of things from what I've observed in other threads.
1) I eat a lot of salt. I put a lot of salt on my food and always have. So I might have to cut back and see what results occur. I might be gaining back some water weight because of the high salt count in my diet.
2) I did not take a multi-vitamin over the weekend. I know that it is one of the essential parts of the diet: low carb, plenty of water, exercise and a multi-vitamin each day. Could having this missing multi-vitamin curb the weight loss, even when I'm doing everything else right?
My stress level should go down as I've just finished a class that I didn't like and I will be in Vegas by the end of the weekend.

Oh, OK, sorry, was hoping to find a quick answer! :)
Then without menus it's hard to say! I know that I have to avoid salt like the plague or I retain water. I rarely take a vitamin, however, and I did take one yesterday and I'm up a pound today!
I don't like to try to associate "yesterday" with "today's weight" unless there's something obvious that happened. It generally just doesn't work that way.
My money for you is on water retention from something, whether it be the salt or the shoveling. And stress will most definitely affect weight loss.

Can you explain water retention in regards to me shoveling? Does exercise affect that?
BTW, nice use of "affect". Impressive.

No, I can't explain it other than I've heard that "injured" muscle (which is what basically occurs with very intense exercise or activity) can retain water. I also retained water the first week I started weight training in the fall, then it came off.
Ha! Ha!
And I even know it should be "effect!" Sometimes I get in such a hurry I forget to proofread...

Alright, false alarm. I just weighed myself today and I am back at what I lost from the first week of induction.
In regards to the uses of effect and affect, I thought that you were right on. I'll have to go check the rules on those.
So, the difference in 4 pounds means 15% more towards my goal. Hopefully it will stay this easy.

You should take your measurements, they might make you happy.

Congratulations on losing 25% of the total you want to lose already!!
Are you going to move on to the main weightloss stage of Atkins (OWL) now?

You know, I haven't even given that stage any thought. I'm still just starting the Atkins Diet Revolution book and am about halfway through the Atkins induction book. If you care to give me some info on it, it would be appreciated.
