I am new to the induction phase of atkins diet, and wanted to know if crystal light hard candy 13g carbs 13g of isomalt is OK? Do the isomalts cancel out the carbs?
Thanks, wags36

To the best of my knowledge, no candy, diet or otherwise, is allowed on induction. Most people I know choose to avoid even the sugar-free kind at all stages of this WOE. Some make their own -- chocolates and such, but the idea is to reduce the urges for sweets. Also, 13g for candy on induction would be a LOT of your allowable carbs for the day. Is it really worth it?

Rule of thumb....Dr. Atkins said "Eat ABSOLUTELY nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list"

For a lot of people, artificial sweeteners stall weight loss. I personally only subtract fiber from my total carb counts. I also avoid all but liquid artificial sweeteners.

i think isomalt is one of the sugar alcohols, and tends to cause major digestive problems for a lot of people. if you need something sweet, a diet soda using splenda or even aspartame will be better for you than the diet candies.

and kim is exactly right... if it's not on the induction list, don't eat it! :)

Welcome wags, new member!
I think I'd skip those for now, too. You'll be pleased withthe results a really clean induction will do for you, and the desire to eat sweets, and the hunger cravings will go away. It's a remarkably empowering feeling when that happens!

I count all carbs less fiber only, too.
