Just wondering about the taste of some low carb products I'm thinking of trying once I get to OWL etc.

Carbquick?? Good Bad or Gross??

I tried this breading stuff once from Dixie Low Carbers (or something like that) and OMG it was disgusting!!!

Thick Not/Thin Good Bad or Gross?

I like to make sauces and stuff, but obviously want to stay away from the flours and cornstarches. Just wondering how these would be.

What about the pancake mixes etc?

What products do you find to be the best?

Thanks

You may want to check out the "Low Carb Products" forum. But just because someone else likes the taste of something, doesn't mean you will too.

I like carbquik myself but everyone is different. Almond flour and flaxmeal seed is also good. I like some of the SF Da Vinci syrups, with spice being my ultimate favorite.....Love Instone protein puddings!!!!! Expensive but good!

i have yet to find a decent pancake....

one of my fav breakfast foods....

see my big question is why to all the syrups have to be so darn runny? i could deal with the cardboard falvored pancake if the syrup was at least decent

Annie, where do you get your pudding? That is the Stallone pudding, right?

I like carbquick for some things, but not for others. I know that's not helpful. Honestly though some of the things I made with it came out salty or too bready tasting. Others, like a cobbler, came out great. It's one of those things you have to experiment with different recipes on I think.

You can get the Stallone pudding thur Netrition OR sometimes you can find it at GNC.

I agree that it is VEDDY GOOD !!! (Especially the chocolate.)

Shaggybear - I have a thread on here talking about all my Dixie Diner disappointments - and I SO agree with you about the breading mix!! BLECH! I've used Carbquick for a few things, namely, the vanilla version of the 3 minute chocolate cake. I haven't had any issues with it.

This is my favorite Pancake recipe, and I have tried many low carb pancake recipes before this one. Sorry, but I cannot remember where I got this recipe. It was either from the archives of this board, or from another board I go to. I never thought to write down where I got my recipes at, back then)

Flax Pancakes

2 eggs slightly beaten
1 scoop (1/4 cup) vanilla whey powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp SF DaVinci syrup (I use vanilla)
1/4 cup Flaxmeal
dash of lite salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix ingredients well. Fry in butter or oil.
Makes 4 pancakes, 5 net carbs per recipe.

I like the Carbquik personally, but I add about 1/4 tsp pf vanilla extract to any recipe I make with it, to help get rid of any weird taste the carbquik causes. It is not necessary in all recipes, but it is in others. So I just automatically add the vanilla extract to any recipe using carbquik.

I agree with LadyBelle. Carbquik is great for some recipes, but in some recipes the texture is too bready tasting. Carbquik makes a great cobbler!!! I've made some carbquik cream cheese cookies, with jelly centers, too, that were really good--A nice soft cookie.
