Hi everyone and I missed ya'll
Congrats to Terri. Mentor and all that! You go girl!!!!!!
Have stalled and can't lose another pound, damn't. I have not tasted bread, pasta, or rice. I think it is the sugar free pudding made with whipping cream. I am addicted to the stuff. I also still consume probably too many Miller lite's.
I havent' been taking my supplements on a regular basis either. So I need a sound thrashing. Terri do your stuff. I deserve what ever you throw my way. I have a goal of 240 to get too and at the rate I am going, it will be September before I reach it, yuk. So if this liver cleansing thing is good, let me in on the ways and how too's. Is the thistle and husk working for you. I just don't know if I can stomach another pill. Seems like it takes forever to swallow all the ones I am on now. I thing that is why I don't take them everyday. Had a Vit C pill stick in my throat and it scratched it and that was unpleasant.
So glad to see the Princess is back and doing well. Terri you are great and I am very proud of you. Lets all give her a round of applause!!!!!
Okay, I am ready. Give it to me. (all with love)
Blessings,
TeriDoodle

ok....you asked for it....
GET OFF THE *#!*~#! SWEETENERS!!!!! You are hereby limited to 1/2 c. of sugar-free JELLO (NOT PUDDING) with NO whipped cream, every other day. No more beer....except 2/day on the weekends!!!! On those days, you better watch those carbs and I wanna see COUNTS!!!
As a matter of fact, start a journal TOMORROW and I wanna see menus and counts EVERY DAY for 2 weeks!!!! Is that clear???!??
 I love you, Little Feat!!
oh, and thanks for all the congrats .... awww shucks!! :o

Oh, and by the way, I'm already OFF the Fat Flush thing.... it's not a good plan that can be "merged" with a low-carb WOE. It's very low calorie and highly restrictive....ain't no way I could live like that! There may be some health benefits to the liver in doing the 2-week plan, but beyond that..... no thanks. Save your money.
If I do the fat flush after my BFL challenges, and I have some major health benefits...I'll definitely let you know.

Just fell into a reverse today .. changed my stats back to 169 .. but I'm over it now ... the scale was just sooooooo yuk!!! http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/blah.gif but that's okay ... I'm out of my slump and just gotta get back to the basics ... I've spent the last couple of days analyzing and with the help of a few people around here .. Okay Terri I will try. I have just a little bit of pudding left and I will not make it again. (can you see the tears here?)
I am not good at writing and not sure I would be good about keeping up with everything I eat . But, I will try. Starting Monday.
I will do better on the beer too, I promise. Thanks for caring.

This weekend for me will be consisting of BarBQ Ribs ... I picked some up at the store, and since my hubby had some when he took me out for our anniversary lunch ... and I was horribly druling at the restaurant .. (very embarrassing) .. but I can't eat anything with barbq sauce out ... works better than exlax ... so I picked up some ribs ... (4 pounds worth) and I'm gonna cook em up this weekend for a treat ... :yum:

I jumped on the scale this morning and it said 165 :yay:... But my rule of thumb is that I wait and if it hold for at least 3 days... it's official ... so I'm not yet ready to change my stats from the http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/blah.gif 169 that it is now ... but if I can hold this 165 through the weekend, I can change them then ... :D

Susane and Sally - what awesome news for both of you
I have really been stuggling lately. Just a few carbs here and a few there could not hurt that much? :(
and they don't but they do cause me to stall big time.
I struggle big time with the sweets. I can handle no bread, potatoes, rice - but don't put home baked anything in front of me.
What I am finding the hardest is that I am not a big enough meat eater and the meats I do like are not the best for me (deli meats, hot dogs).
Well enough of my ranting after so long away. Off to have hamburgers/cheese/salsa for dinner tonight.
Teri - what wonderful news on the mentor appointment. Very appropriate!
Hugs to all of you!

Hi everyone! Feels like forever since I was here! I've been spending all of my time putting in my garden and wrapping up the kid's schooling. Now they're out and the garden's in and I can relax! :D
I don't remember what my weight said last time, but I'm now 176! Two pounds away from the 50 pound mark. I was on the scale yesterday and had to step off and back on again. I have a hard enough time believing that the number in the hundreds place is a one and not two! But to see a seven in the tens place is phenomenal! So, I've taken the weight of two of my children off and have one more to go!
I'm so glad to see everyone who lost the last couple of weeks. Judy and Littlefeat, you'll get down! Just keep at it and it'll start back up again!
Someone was talking about imagining food on their hips....there's an actual commercial that does that. I think it's for Nutrigrain bars. It's funny, but that's exactly what I would see on my hips if I ate those stupid little bars!
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day and got off to a great June!
See you all later! Amber

Amber - awesome news - how wonderful!
Funny you register the weight off in relation to your kids. I was thinking the same thing the other day. About how when I finally lose all the weight I would like to it will be just a bit shy of what my daughter currently weighs.
Today is 4 months on Atkins and a total of 15 pounds off. I am happy with what has been accomplished so far. Now I just need to figure out how to stay motivated for the next round.
My husband has gone back to induction to get things moving again. I know I just need to start exercising.
Going to try and do a few minutes tonight - it is just not how I want to use my free time but until I get past that cement wall I know this last 25 lbs. is just not going to budge.
Well have to go - dinner to make!
Hugs to all, Judy

Hi Girls!!
Amber - WONDERFUL news!! Wow! Almost 50 lbs....that must feel like a terrific accomplishment!! ... and it IS!!! You should be really proud of your success! Keep it up.... just a few measley little pounds to go!!
Hey Judy - Get off that butt and start exercising! I make you this promise: Once you start going good and start feeling that muscle develop....that absolutely WILL be the way you want to spend your free time!! Nike ads are right: Just do it!! I had only been doing BFL for 7 weeks when I hurt my back 10 days ago (doing bicycle crunches  ) and I have been missing my lifting, cardio and tennis soooooooooo much!! I'm miserable not being able to do anything! Look at it this way: Show your gratitude to God for giving you a healthy body by keeping it as fit as you can...or think how badly a paraplegic would love to be able to run or do aerobics. Don't take your health for granted!
Sally - I see you've set your stats at 166.... that's GREAT!!! Mine never budges!! (But it will!!) You're doing really, really well....so don't sweat the small stuff!! That 164 will roll around again in a week or two, you know it will! Then it will be 160....and THEN!!!!!................... 158!!!!!!!!!!! Just keep doin' what you're doin'!!

I have 6 months to get to my goal ... I told my doc today (cuz he wants to see me in another 6 months for another cholestrol sample) .. that I'm hoping to be at my goal then!!!! :D We'll see!! Hey ya'll. I've been with these boards for quite some time but haven't done much posting lately. I have two kids, two dogs, one hubby and go to school. Right now I have off for the summer and I am bound and determined to reach 140lbs. I don't know how since I've been stalled forever. But I really need to give it my all. I thought if I joined this thread, maybe being in the company of others working toward the same goal I'd have better luck.
Hope to talk soon.

Thanks for the welcome Garrison. Believe me I know this is a slow process. My stats say 147 and that is what I am this morning but it's the first time in quite a few weeks. I was just getting really discouraged and would allow myself extra carbs or even a pecan cluster or two. Add that to soy sauce and not drinking my water and I was up to 152lbs. I know you might be thinking 5 lbs, not that big of a deal, but it is. Funny I was always watching and weighing myself, hubby on the other hand, WOW! He was in the biggest state of DENILE! We started this program last July (he 2 or 3 weeks ahead of me) and he went from 250lbs to 185 lbs. in a matter of 3months. YES, 65 lbs in 3 months!!! Anyway these past few months cheats here and there, food I didn't even know he was eating, well, back up to 211lbs. I kept on him and he finally had to get on the scale himself to see his damage. This was last week and fortunately he is now down to 203 today.
I'm leaving to go up to Pa and NJ to see family in 2 1/2 weeks and I would really love to be 140lbs. I know that that is not realistic for me but just the thought of visiting family should keep me on the strait and narrow. Talk about slow, the last time I saw them was in OCT, I left NC weighting 154lbs. When everyone saw me it was so dramatic from 190lbs. I know everyone will have their eyes on me to see if I failed. Not keeping up the pace of the wild weight loss is somehow almost the same. How could I only loose 7lbs. since then. Now I know why I started to cheat out of being discouraged.
Well, now that I've talked your ear off........

I'm sure you add 2 children to that and you've definately got your hands fulll

Have you ever tried a fat fast? It seems to be the only thing to get me going after being stalled FOREVER!!!! I hate to say it cuz it's not the easiest thing to do, but I think I'm gonna start one tomorrow. Thursday at the latest. ;) It has worked in the past. Sally, I have 4 dogs, I am a total dog addict. I love my fur babies. I also do keeshond rescue. If I could, I would have at least a dozen. I am attaching a picture of two of my babies, aren't they cute ;) ?

Hi girls!! It's wonderful to have some new members here!! We're glad you're along for the ride to 140! It may be a slow ride, but it's better than the rollercoaster to 250! ;)
For all of you that are stalled 6 wks or more (yes, it can happen to you!) there is a post in my journal (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=400926#post400926) on 6/10 about Atkins' old reversal diet. Basically it's a way to "shake up" your diet to get the scales moving again. The only reason I mention it is that I recently had a 3 lb. whoosh that can MAYBE be explained by the fact that while my back's been out my routine totally changed....and WHOOSH! Now, keep in mind that it could be related to several other reasons, too....but this reversal diet is an alternative to the fat fast which may not appeal to all. In addition, it is not included in Atkins' latest book.....don't know why. And I'm not necessarily advocating this method, it's just there FYI.
Ya'll have a great day!! Hang tight!

Wed, Jun-12-02, 06:38
I have tried the reversal diet but the only time it seemed to work is when I downed 1/2 of a box of a whitman's sampler. The other time I just felt yucky and gained weight. (I lost it again when I went back on induction and maybe a pound or two more).
I guess it all depends on the person and what you're eating during your reversal diet, ratio of protein to carbs to fat. Terri, I'm definately gonna take a look at your journal to find out what it was you did exactly.

I just changed my ISP and am now fully able to get on the net without the durned kicking off and errors! Thank goodness! I thought I'd never get back here!
It's so nice to see so many new people! Hello you all!
I am coming off of a carb day and I don't feel as swollen and nasty as I did the last time. I am registering 173.5 on my grandfather's scale, but we'll see what it is when I use my mom's. Don't want to be inaccurate! It'll feel good to type that into my weight thingie!
I saw a blurb on the news about those low fat snacks and thought, "Cool, they're going to say the things are full of sugar and bad for you." DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAID????? They said that they're bad for you because the people who eat them think they can eat as many as they want and will eat a whole box or two and the fat adds up!!! I about howled I was so mad! I was one of "Those People" and I'll tell you what, I NEVER had more than one serving! In that serving is probably a whole two days worth of carbs and all of it is sugar! Like we're a bunch of fat weak willed idiots that sit with our pig noses in a cookie box and can't quit! Arrrgh! Makes me sick!!!
O.K. had to get that off of my chest. I saw my great aunt the other day and she last saw me at 224 lbs. and about died when she saw me! She did Atkins last year and has had a slow loss this time, but now after seeing me, she's ready to stick to it! I'm so happy for her! :D

I got down to 168..but then I weighed a day or so later and was back up to 172..I don't know what it is about 172 but my body seems to like that..and it is no where near what I should be...I'm gonna try the fat fast as well probably next week. I am putting it off because I have to go to a conference early next week and that will throw me off because it will be diffucult to stay on the diet let alone fast. Tell me how you plan on doing the fast. What exactly are you eatting on it? How many calories? I have a question ...you know how a lot of people say that if you don't get enough calories it will sabatage your weight loss. If that is so, why does Atkins say that the fat fast works? Just curious

I blew it today. I am going through a super stressful time at work, and didn't have the time to eat. I got so hungry, I grabbed the first thing I saw, which was some chocolate!! I'm so mad at myself, because this whole week went great. I even got up at 5:00 am to go to the gym. I do have the week-end off, and would really love to go for a billion miller lite's, but I'm going to try and be strong and get back on track.
Thanks for listening.

I'm so sorry to hear about your day Dee. I know it wont help much now but for the next time. Do you have a refrig. at work? Or maybe you could bring a cooler. Stock it with peperoni and cheese. They both keep for a couple weeks. Or just make sure you pack your lunch the night before. This way you'll always have something legal to eat on hand. The thing is be prepared. Anything and everything can happen in a day and your best defense is to be prepared.
I know you will do better this weekend! :)

Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a great weekend. I just thought I would pop in and say hi  .
Heather, I do love getting into 170's, haven't been there in years. I feel great. After seeing pictures of Louise, I am back on track and doing great, not cheating and don't want too.
About the Stevia, my mom uses it. All natural, 1 gram of carbs, very sweet. I tried some and it is a lot sweeter the others. They sell it here at the health food stores. Well, I am out of here, talk to you guys soon :) .
day 6 w/o cheating :yay: .

I had a horrible weekend. I miserably failed with LCing.
I cheated and cheated. I'm now back up to 211. Plus, it's TOM for me, which doesn't help things at all.
I had a couple bites of a brownie dessert, TWO tortillas, a lot of sweet tea, some lemonade, a Mello Yello, and some chocolate!
My uncle passed away over the weekend and...well...let's just say that I'm an emotional eater. The viewing was horrible and the funeral was even worse. :(
So that's why I haven't been around Tanya...partly because I'm ashamed of myself and party because things have been so sad these last few days.
I'm back on course today. Two sausage links and a little cheese for breakfast with some coffee. (That's all I had time to prepare this morning.) I have some bottled water to sip on when I'm done with my coffee. I expect to have to fight off some major carb/sugar cravings today.

Hello, all
I just popped over here from another countdown forum at Heather’s suggestion (Hi, Heather!) Not sure if 140 is my goal, but I’ll know as I get closer. I’m about 50 lbs from there now. Was doing Zone, and am now on Atkins, and I’m a vegetarian.
I’m happily back on the LC wagon after a stress and preparations for a family milestone completely derailed me. (My son’s Bar Mitzvah – the irony is one reason I’d started LCing was to slim down for the event!) Strangely enough, I feel much better about this WOE with no deadline looming – I suppose that’s just how it should be.
I have a little bio from last Feb over at the intro forum here (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=295471#post295471), but I can now happily report I’m no longer afraid of Atkins!
Looking forward to future posts …

Hello to all the new folks!
I didn't weigh this morning because I was afraid of what the scale would say. (It's still TOM for me and I absolutely refuse to weigh until it's all over!)
How do I beat the TOM cravings? How? How? How?
TeriDoodle

Garrison and Dee - Atkins suggests L-glutamine for carb cravings 500-1000mg/day. I've heard it helps, but I can't say for sure. Might be worth a try if it's bugging you that bad! I had a reallly hard time with TOM last week too, but I must say that LCing has greatly improved that situation over time. Whew! What a wonder this WOL is!!
Ya'll ... don't feel bad for falling off the wagon. We all do it. The important thing is to get back on the plan and try harder next time to avoid the pitfalls. That, and make a commitment to hang around these boards at least until you reach goal. It's the smartest thing you can do for yourself!!
Hang tough. We are ALL going to do it.... ALL THE WAY!!

Thanks for the tip! It seems like I read that part about glutamine somewhere in the back of Atkins new book. I guess I need to use the Atkins book as more of a manual instead of leaving it sitting on my bookshelf, huh?
Has anyone here ever actually tried the glutamine?

Garrison – I tried the glutamine to ease muscle soreness when I was doing BFL, and when I RE-start BFL, I’ll likely go back to it. I don’t know if it was the thing that curbed my carb cravings, or just this WOE in general, but there are some good discussions of it here (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44071) in the usenet area about cravings, and here (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31335) in one of the exercise forums about trainning.
I fend off cravings by trying a new LC food – usually it’s something I would have denied myself on any low fat WOE. Yesterday it was artichoke hearts marinated in olive oil – just threw ‘em in the (mainly lettuce) green salad, and voila! New taste treat. Just visit the gourmet section of the store – the stuff is more expensive, but if you only do it one in a while to stave off the cravings, it’s worth it.

I'm doing better this week. I haven't cheated since Monday. (Monday was the icky funeral day.) I have noticed a half pound of weight loss so far, but I'm sure that by the beginning of next week I will drop several TOM pounds. (At least that's what I'm really hoping!)
You are doing so good these days and I'm so proud of you for sticking with it! The next time I get the urge to cheat like I did last weekend I am going to rush to the forum and try to remind myself that the weight loss is worth SO MUCH MORE than the cheating. Your posts will help to remind me!

Garrison - the L-Glutamine works for my cravings. I keep a bottle on my desk shelf and one on my kitchen counter. I even carry a few around in my purse just in case.
My issue is stalls. I am in one big time right now. Have been sitting at this 160 number for over a month. I am so close to 159 I can taste it!!!
Can some one point me in the direction of the fat flushing. I know Terridoodle asked about it a few threads back but don't remember if there were any responses. I have got ot find some way to jump start this weight lose because if I see that number one more time I am going to scream. Not really because truth be told I am over joyed with the 20 lb. loss since 1/1/02.
Well I am off. Welcome to all the new people who have joined the 140 challenge and hello to all the hangers on...stick with it we will see that number yet!.

Hey Judy!! LTNS!!
4 weeks isn't that bad of a stall! I just FINALLY came off a 6 week one myself. Lost 4 lbs in the last 2 wks :D Doesn't sound like much but it's better than ZERO!!
The only person I know that's tried Fat Flush is Bloom. Check back in her journal 2-3 weeks or so.... I don't think she's still on it though. I read the book but it's too low-cal, low-fat for me.... I knew I couldn't stick with it.
Do you keep track of your calories? Maybe you're not eating enough ( or a little too much?) The best thing really is not to worry about it too much right now. In a couple of weeks you can panic and start tweaking  In the meantime, just up your water.
Good to see you!

Hey, about the fat fast... pg. 239-242 in your bible, I mean your DANDR. To get the 900 calories of fat I use the macadamia nuts and cream cheese.( 5 ounces total, ex. 2 of the cream cheese and 3 ounces of macadamia nuts) He gives you a few other options but I'm not big on avocados or pate`, or caviar. I tried to do 2 oz. of chicken salad w/ 3x's the mayo, but it's so good it was hard to stop. I think it would be best to dish out that portion the night before when you're not so hungry. Hey Tanya! Wow! You look like you've lost weight, girl!
I'm doing pretty well today. I just got back from my journal/lunch break. Recently I started keeping a handwritten journal to record my progress and to help keep me motivated. I go up to a spot on the mountain during my lunch breaks and I write in the my journal and record all of the things I'm struggling with and all the tips I've learned. It has been very therapeutic and helpful for me...especially on days when I feel discouraged.
I keep a journal here in the forum as well, but sometimes only the handwritten version will do!

I have gone yet another week without getting on the computer! Arrgh! Well, I'm going to my grandfather's house and digging in his front yard every day. Today, I finally finished landscaping his front yard and it looks so professional! The neighbors were so happy! His yard has been a bit neglected for a few years and I haven't had the time to get over there, but this year, I'm doing the whole thing!
By the way, I've cheated about five times in the last two weeks, but I've done 2-3 hours of work in his yard 2-3 times a week, so I've come out of the last couple weeks at 171.5! I do tend to lose if I cheat once in a while, I don't know if the extra carbs do it or what, but I'm usually between 18-30 carbs in a day normally. I think this time, I just ended up burning it up from the extra exercise. Trust me, you do gardening, and you'll get in your weight lifting! Especially squats!
Anyway, I'm taking a week off and then I'm going to till his back yard and cut trees down and stuff. I'm dreading the woodsy back yard!
I'm going to change my weight on my profile and get off to get ready for the Parade of Homes tonight!
See everyone later! Hope everyone keeps losing! I love contributing to the pounds lost at the top of the screen. I wonder how many our group has contributed?

Today was an absolute break down do nothing day and I'm going crazy! I just read Body for life, to have another reference, but I don't know if I could go back to the low fat thing again. I think that what I decided today was that I would increase the intensity of my weight training and start trying to do it in the morning, I mean, who doesn't want to burn three times more fat!?! :D So, I'll keep my current diet. I was needing to up my weights anyway. I have a pair of 2 pound and 5 pound weights! I've been tying them together, trying to find other things around the house to lift. Hi, everyone
My willpower was tested many times over the weekend, but I persevered. I even went out of my way to get my boyfriend the Ice Cream he wanted, and then did not have any myself. I just wish I could have more willpower when it comes to staying off the scale. In my week back on the wagon, I’ve gained three pounds and lost 1.5! I know I have to be better about drinking water; that’s part of it. Getting back on the exercise wagon will help, too.
Amber, I’m one of those people who did LC with BFL with good results (in case you missed it, all my good habits went by the wayside in the weeks preceding my son’s Bar Mitzvah. The stress and work of event planning and home repair to be ready for out-of-town guests just took me out.) If you haven’t done so already, visit the BFL forum here, especially the tips and hints (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29683) sticky. There's info on choosing the right weights, too.
By the way, I am planning to restart BFL in August – my son’s sportscamp schedule in July will mean leaving the house much earlier in the morning, and I know I won’t have the time. I don’t want to set myself up to fail!
Best to all ... and tell the whoosh fairy it’s my turn!

Thanks for the tip Rhu! I was trying to start doing BFL workouts this week, but I just can't get it done in the morning! I won't do it while my husband is home and about 20 minutes after he leaves, my mom drops off my niece on Monday and Tuesday. Then, if they aren't up already, my kids get up! I think I'm just destined to do my working out in the afternoon. The younger two take naps, and the older two can go off by themselves. I've never been able to work out in the morning. I figure, since BFL's nutrition involves carbs, complex though they be, they would certainly be a problem. I will still be low on carbs by lunch on Atkin's, so I figure I can still have an effective workout. It's certainly working so far! I just want to have an official weight lifting routine and BFL looks like a good one.
I've been going crazy this week. My son's parties for his 7th birthday are this weekend, so I'm decorating, cleaning, and making that pinata and games. Then my husband talks to me about how bad work is getting for him and decides to give his two week notice yesterday. He can easily get a job, he's a great carpenter/remodeler, but it is still very stressful waiting to see if he can get similar pay, health ins., retirement, etc. He tends to sell himself low and I'm afraid someone will offer him his current pay and he'll tell them he wants lower pay for a trial so they can see if he's worth it! Arrrgh! I know it's very nobel of him and all, but he always works 150% and accomodates the other workers.
I hope he gets something soon. This isn't as bad as the other two times he's changed jobs, the last two times he changed were two weeks before I had my second AND third babies! He always can out the better for it, so we'll see.
Gotta go and take the kids to the park. Run 'em ragged!

Thank you Garrison! I am so glad that I'm on this thread! Everyone is so supportive! :D He's got a job lined up now, and he's staying with his old boss to build one more house, so in six weeks, he'll be shifting from new home building to remodeling. His goal is to buy houses, fix them and make them look great and sell. He really hates the sprawl we have around here. They have to put up signs at every major intersection so you know where one town ends and another starts. He is very relieved, but I'm still waiting for the financial report (how much will he make?). He also had health benefits and retirement matching, and not too many trades do that unless you're union.
I weighed today at my mom's house. I broke into another set of ten! I'm 168!! :D :D :D I wanna dance! I went to the store today and looked in the window and saw my reflection. I couldn't believe it! Hey folks...long time that I haven't written...I've been teaching summer school here and very busy it seems. Things are going okay on the diet. I think I'm still pretty turtleish...compared to others but I'm happy with my weight loss. I'm now officially in the 160s...none of that hopping back into the 170s on heavy days...for awhile there my weight was like a yo - yo...like 5 lbs one way and then the other. My husband actually told me last night that my stomach and upper body was smaller...That made me so happy..he's not real observant about my appearance. (I've gained 20 lbs since we met and he used to swear I hadn't gained any..how do you miss 20 lbs?..but I'm thankful he's like that and doesn't sweat my fluctuating weight. He really is a great hubby.) I'm getting back into my old clothes too..which is a great feeling. The sad part is that I still catch myself in the mirror critiqing myself...saying..my arms are still to fat (inherited from mom - we are really short stocky women)...my legs are too fat...I know I should be more positive considering I'm doing well on the diet. This makes week 13 and I've lost around 12 or 13 lbs total. I was around 182 or 180 when I started this....Funny how it seems like I've been doing this WOL longer than 13 weeks...it really is such a neat WOL. I feel like eating the way I do is totally natural. Well, I've written a novel on here..since I've not checked in in awhile. Good work folks...the support you all offer is just wonderful.
PS. I just read a great book...The Secret of Low Carb Success by Laura Richard...some others on here had recommended it and I bought it...very interesting stuff...much of it is the same advice you all give on here..but I really enjoyed it...

Hey Heather! I just switched my exercise routine around too. I am going to try all weights for five days instead of my half cardio/half weights. I'll get some cardio at another time by biking. Good luck with your extra walking!
I just dropped my daughter (10 yo) off at camp for a week. She took her best friend this year and they didn't look back after taking off to look around! This is her second year. Her friend went to a camp about 25 minutes from here last year. This one is 140 miles and two states away. I was afraid she might be a little sad, but she just took right off. Her mom was a bit taken aback by that, but she was very happy for her.
It'll be strange not having my oldest around for a week. Well, see you all later.

Amber,
Congrats on the pounds lost! I've been the same FOREVER no matter what I do. I can pork out and eat all the No- No's and maybe gain some water weight but in a day or two if I did gain anything, it's gone. On the other hand I can exercise and be a model Atkins eater and loose NOTHING. I really haven't lost any significant weight for 9 mos. now. It all came off rather quickly in the beginning and only a few here and there. I know I should be happy about that which I am but I feel like I have a long way to go.
About sending your 10 yr old off to camp for a week. You are a much braver woman than I. I could never do that. I still go in and check that the kids are breathing before I go to bed at night. A touch of obsessive compulsive disorder. LOL

You know, "O.K., if a single person comes up to you and tells you your group is playing a game beyond the trees and to come with him/her, what do you do?" It's sad that it has to be done, but even at Christian Camp, you have to be vigilant. It also helps that it is the camp I went to as a kid. The couple in charge of running it is the same couple that oversaw my trips when I went with my church. Very convenient!
Anyway, today I had my screaming niece and had two cars break down on me, one of which we got yesterday to see if we wanted to buy it. Guess what our answer is? :( It is a 94 Ford Taurus station wagon. Beautiful car, but our mechanic says we need to back away sloooowly from the Fords. Right now we have an 87 Ford Aerostar that has been the bane of my existence! I just want a car that won't stop in the middle of the road! I don't ask for much. Air, heat, radio, enough seats for 5 people. Room for groceries. Oh well, I'll find it some day! :)
Gotta go and put the youngest to bed. Amber

Hello to all that is here. If anybody is here. You're all so quiet lately.
Amber, I know you're here. Sorry to hear about your car troubles. I have always been pretty lucky with my cars. Atleast nothing has ever gone terribly wrong until they were paid for. KNOCK ON WOOD!!! On the other hand, my pool! It has been driving me nuts!!! We went away for a week, left the filter on, double shocked it, and it was still a mess when we got back! I was ready to close it down! I would go to the pool place, have an analysis done, spend a coulple HUNDRED DOLLARS, and have it turn GREEN!!! I couldn't believe it!!! My pool lady recommended floc (which I asked about before I spent all that money) and it WORKED!!! I don't know if it would have worked before all the added extra chemicals or not but I would have liked to give it a try.
Anyway, so how are you doing with your weight? I'm still stuck! I know something is changing, I can feel it! Sounds weird, I know, but I feel like I am actually accomplishing something as of late. I restarted last Wednesday with eating and exercising. I'm doing things a bit differently and just feel like this WILL pay off. Usually I would psych myself up and if I didn't loose or see some sort of change, I would give in to some craving or just eat too many good carbs. Maybe my endorphins are running high and giving me an extra mental boost. Maybe it's my body's time to start loosing again. GOOSH! I hope so!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hey Heather! You sure are doing fantastic! :D I can't wait to be 147! I'm hoping to get to 140 by our family vacation in the end of September. I know what you mean about the feeling of weight loss. Several times I've gone to weigh myself KNOWING that I've lost weight because I feel a lightness or somewhere on my body is an area that is thinner. It's wierd, for so long I wanted nothing to do with my body, and now, I'm very in tune!
About the pool, my parents finally took theirs down because they were sick of trying to take care of it and having the cure not work! I'm glad yours is back to normal! You need it in the heat! Anyway, have a good rest of the weekend and stay on target! We'll get to our goals really soon, I know!

P.S. I started TOM a few days ago, but a day before, I was 161, so send a prayer to help me keep it off! :D

Hello to anyone who happens to read this!
Hey Amber,
Not much new here. I finally bought a tape measure. I left my other one at my Grandma's house when I went to PA. Only problem is now I'm afraid to use it. What if there's no change? What if it's all in my head? I just couldn't bear there to be NO change there either!
That's great news about not having a water weight gain! Maybe it's actually a loss and it'll show after TOM is gone! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and say a prayer. I plan on having a serious talk with St. Anthony tonight( St. of miracles). I hope I don't need a miracle to show a loss of inches, but it couldn't hurt.
I bought this sexy, flirty dress for my cousins wedding and if something doesn't change somewhere, I don't know if I'll have the guts to wear it. Hubby says it looks great, I just don't know though. Oh well, maybe I'll try it on again tomorrow too.

Hi Heather! I'd say, even if the tape shows no loss of inches in the main parts, you could've lost it elsewhere! I usually measure upper arms, chest, breast, waist, thighs, upper leg, but last time, I also measured my neck and calf muscles and then measures again and I lost there! It's weird the places you lose! You're only 7 pounds from you goal! Just remember that you'll keep it off much better if you lose it slowly. I know it's a pain, it would drive me crazy, but I just remember how far I've come and if I were still in my deluded low fat state, I'd be about 240 lbs. by now!
If you dh says you look great, I'd take it as gospel truth! It has taken me a while to get used to compliments because I remember what I looked like at 130 lbs. Much better than I do now. But I met my dh when I was 140, and he's seen me at 224, so seeing me objectively at 161, he can say I look great. I will just feel much better when it's ALL off! Like, yesterday!
Anyway, I am hoping the woosh fairy knows we're here and will come visit! We've been good! :D
I hope the others come on in soon. :( I don't know where everyone else went!
Good luck on the measurements and let me know how it goes! And promise me that you will not go out in a funk if there's no change! We are so close!!

Hey Amber,
I'd say, even if the tape shows no loss of inches in the main parts, you could've lost it elsewhere! This is true! But I was feeling slim in the areas I usually measure. I say was cuz I've been really bloated the past couple days. I'm ovulating and I always seem to hold water for a couple days this time of month too! It's like a double whammy! Thank gosh it wasn't always like this, or I would have never gotten pregnant with my first two. On the other hand, even though we play safe, it's an extra warning. I'm in nursing school now and have no time for accidents!
Good luck on the measurements and let me know how it goes! And promise me that you will not go out in a funk if there's no change! We are so close!!
Don't worry, I can't go in a funk, this wedding is too close! Then after the wedding I start school and that will keep me true for a while. Then I have fall break in Oct. thinking maybe of going up North again. Would love for a real difference in appearance.
Oh, the funniest thing today. I took the kids to a new dentist today. A very nice lady, in her late 30's or early 40's. She thought I was thier older sister and NOT thier mother. My kids are 9 and 5 and I am 29y/o. So it's not like I was a teenage mother. So, she must think I look young. :D I know I'm only 29 but I'll tell ya, sometimes I feel like I look so old!
If you dh says you look great, I'd take it as gospel truth! I might be able to take it as the truth if he didn't also have to eat low carb. I never know if he's for real or just wants pizza for dinner. He doesn't really think I need to loose any more weight, he thinks I look good the way I am. I on the other hand, I think I still have a big ol butt and need to loose MORE weight! Atleast he thinks I look good. That's important.
I gotta go clean something or spray something around the house to make it smell like I cleaned something! :p A trick my mother taught me! LOL

Heather

I use an orange disinfectant or my lysol can and clean the bathroom sink or something! :D If I keep my eyes closed, I won't see the pile of laundry in the bedroom and the pile of dishes in the kitchen! :daze: Although, I had my kids help clean the living room and my oldest daughter did the dishes today. But sometimes pulling teeth would be easier! I should know, I was a dental assistant!
Anyway, I've been between 161 and 163 the last 2 weeks. I'm tightening the reins on carbs. I cheated last Saturday and have had a few caffeinated and aspartamed drinks. No more for quite a while! I also picked up Carb Solutions drink mix. It's perfect for a meal and it's never stalled me. Two grams of carb and vanilla flavor. Yum! Next will be chocolate!
Hope we change our weight profiles soon! Hope you have a good weekend!

Hope we change our weight profiles soon!
I know, with all the hard work I've been doing this is really getting old! Although I am seeing a difference in my legs and I actually have abs! Now granted I have to stand a certain way and the light has to shine just right, but they are there !LOL :D
I love carb solutions! I get the big thing of powder. I only started getting it cause Walmart stopped carrying the other protein powder I used to use. This is so much better! I love the chocolate. It's 4 grams but 2 of them are fiber so technically 2 grams of carbs. I drink 2 of them a day. It's the only thing I can eat in the morning and I eat small meals so it works great!
Funny, I made my kids clean up today too. My son had to clean his legos, if you only knew how hard it is for him to clean up his toys! I made my daughter vacuum. She said she likes to do it. GEE... guess she'll be doing it more often now! ;)
Well, I really have to go clean the stove.
Talk later,
Heather

I experimented on myself this weekend and have come to the conclusion that I stay stay above 15 grams of carbs a day. I had coffee and sausage in the morning on Sat., then a carb solutions drink for lunch and in the afternoon, I was not hungry at all, but every time I got up, I almost fainted! I had good fat and calories, but I just must've taken my body too low on the carbs. I am at 12 by now (just after lunch) and feel much better! I want to kickstart, but I don't want to pass out!
I can't wait until weigh in! I have then thin feeling again. Hope your Monday goes smoothly!

I have made it into the 140's and I'm so proud of myself I could just burst. Although I don't have 50 pounds to loose, I feel that I have had to struggle to get this way of eating as part of my life. I had to eliminated alot of "addictive foods", I had to make sure that I included variety so I would continue lcarbing and I have had to realize that eating all those carbs makes me sick, tired and cranky. Tested that one out for a while this summer, why did I do this?
So who else is out there and wants to jion me? If the 140's is like the 150's I'll be in this range for a long time before I see the 130's.
I'm willing to support anyone that needs it. I know what it is like to sit on a number a long time and what it is like to get on the scales and see it has gone up 3 lbs over night without a cheat.
Let's get this thread moving. Heather, Amber are you still out there?

I am also going for 140.It can be a long journey, but no matter what just tell yourself that you would rather it take a year to get where you want to be than spend the next twenty years unhappy.Atleast that is what I have been telling myself for the last eight months.I satrted a weightloss program that involved alot of exercise and very low carb (to me),but then I hit a plateau after 30 pounds,so I joined W.W. and lost ten more but so slowly I was geting very frustrated.I just started Atkins and have lost 5 pounds in five days!!So I am very siked and would love to be your buddy if you would like to help me too.We all need motivation no matter what part of our journey we are in.Anyone with similar goals feel free to write or inspire me too!!!

I would like to join. Are you guys active? My 1st goal is 140 and it has taken me forever to reach it. 158lbs may have been 1058lbs for the length of time it has taken me to get there. Anyway, I need a support group!

Hi there! :D
I haven't posted on this thread for quite a while. It sort of drifted off and split to other threads. I am still looking for 140. I've been very slowed down the last few months (between 155-160), but I also started weight lifting, so I take it into consideration. I am now 153 (as of today), and feeling fantastic! In the months I've stayed the same weight, I've gone from a size 16 to a size 11. I look pretty buff on top!
I've been looking more at my measurements than my scale weight because of this. I will eventually get to 140, maybe below, but now I'm just having fun with the weights. I post on the Exercise challenge, if you're interested in a pep rally for your exercise schedule. I haven't missed a day in months!
Good to see you on the boards!
