so I was doing well on atkins since mid January. I was very low carb, eating eggs and meat. Looking good. dropping weight. Good self control. Then today, I went home to visit my parents. They had a tub of nestle cookie dough. And a brand new container of vanilla ice cream. I tried my best to avoid it. I broke. I feel awful b/c I was doing so well. I don;t know what happened, I just lost all control. Now I feel like I ruined everything and I am beating myself up over it. I feel like this is a huge setback. Oh and when I say I broke, I mean I really broke, like I ate several HUGE bowls of ice cream and several HUGE bowls chock full of cookie dough. It was literally a binge. I am so depressed now. any advice or encouragement would be really appreciated. thanks!

Dont stop, climb back onto your Low Carb way of life. The easy way out would be to continue with your old way of life. I bet you want to loose weight right? Thats why you are here? You made a mistake, so what we all do. The biggest mistake you will make is to stop, to give up. You are a winner,so get yourself back on track. You can do it!!
Dont be so hard on yourself, if you were to slip and fall while walking would you just lie there and die? No way you would try and lift yourself up, and get some medical assistance.
Good luck, and remember you can!

You say you were " on Atkins, eating meat and eggs." Although the Atkins Plan certainly includes meat and eggs, it is centered around low-carb veggies. Have you been eating plenty of veggies? Drinking plenty of water?
Your profile says that you haven't read any of the Atkins books, and that you started LC on Feb 4th. I suggest that you get a copy of DANDR as soon as you can. Used copies are very available and extremely inexpensive. The book has information in it that can help you resist succumbing to the kind of situation you found yourself in.
Nevertheless, all is not lost. Just pick up where you left off, and keep chugging along. It's all any of us can do, after all. :)

Pick yourself up and get back on that wagon. We all have bad days and the occasional slip up. We are after all human beings and sometimes these things happen for a reason. Hopefully next time you can wave off temptation (harder than I'm making it sound i know) and learn from the past. Just remember this is a journey and sometimes the journey gets rough but the important thing is to keep going on with it and you will reach your goals :)

You said "you went home to your parents" my guess is....it wasnt about the food. It was about something that happens when you go "home to your parents" going "home" to my childhood home to visit my mom...gets ME EVERY SINGLE TIME

Truesay nailed it. These are COMFORT FOODS and it sounds like emotional eating. You don't have much to lose so you may see a dent, but you'll be fine. The wagon hasn't lost its wheels, you just took a detour. :)

Main thing is that you are concerned and WANT to be back on track. If not the why would you be here, right?! That is a positive thing. Forget yesterday and start fresh from this moment on.

Ice cream is everywhere. Not just at your "home" at your parents house. Something else was going on. What was going on in your head and heart? Do you always binge when you go home? Is that house the place where you binged when you were little? Did you feel uncomfortable? Did you Really want to be there?? Did you eat to stuff some feeling down, and numb yourself to it?
