Hi, I am starting week 4 of the Atkins plan today and have a question about the dreamfields pasta. I did purchase some via netrition and found it to be quite tasty. Is this really a legal food? Obviously I did and would continue to measure out one portion and be cautious with what I topped it with, but I just don't understand how they get the net carb count that it on the box.....hope someone can enlighten me on this! Thanks

I too had this question. If you do a search, you will find the post that someone did that explained this concept really well. In a nutshell...Apparently, it is some type of proprietary manufacturing process that binds up the carbs in fiber somehow. If you over cook the pasta or reheat the pasta, the binding is no longer effective. So be sure to measure out only what you will eat and then eat it right away or throw it out. I like my pasta al dente to begin with so over cooking is not an issue for me.

I had recommended this pasta for a diabetic friend. I asked her to check her insulin after eating it so that I could see if it were truly low carb. Well, happy to say, it did not have a negative effect on her insulin. i choose to eat it on occasion and I have not experienced any problem. However, I am very careful beause,Malec2594, I don't completely trust it. There are times when I crave mac and cheese or lasagna and it is nice that these products exist for those moments of cravings.

I'm really looking forward to trying it once I get to my final goal. The website shows several stores around here carry it (Wegmans, Safeway and others), so I'm hoping I can find it. I'm thinking of something like this as an occasional maintenance item, and I really hope it will work out that way.

I just got two boxes of this stuff in the mail today - the rigitoni and the spaghetti. I am afraid to eat it though! I can't wait to try it, but I'm so afraid it will make me gain that I dont want to chance it until we get back from Florida. After that I'll be able to test it out and have time to relose if it doesn't work. It will be wonderful if it is true though!

This may be way off, but I make Spaghetti Squash, and I love it with Parmesean Cheese and butter. Just try it, the texture is almost the same. I puncture holes in it on both sides, and after that I microwave each side for five minutes. Then I cut in half long ways and just scrape the seeds out. After that take a fork and scrape the squash into strands, just like pasta! Then melt the cheese and butter over it. I also chop some chives up to put on to garnish it. Enjoy!

Actually, that's not true. See http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=204466.
I love Dreamfields. I actually seem to lose better when I eat it. No idea why.

Here is the link to the article I read. I personally don't know as I haven't tried dreamfields yet. I bought 3 boxes and started to read about it. I am not diabetic and don't have access to an insulin reader. Although, it would be very informative if others are and can and would post results for 3 & 4 hours after eating the pasta. And also, after reheating the pasta.

Funny that, I do too! On the 4 or 5 times I have had it over the past few months I have lost the next day (I have to add in that I'm on South Beach though) I have to say, I love the stuff! If you do over cook it, it goes a bit firm and gluey anyway.

Thanks so much for all of the feedback and great info. I understand more of "how they make it" and am going to give it a try and carefully monitor my progress while using it. Thanks again!

Elle - Wegmans carries the full line. It's about $2.50 for the box, but well worth it, I think.

I love the stuff. Have never seemed to have a problem losing when I eat it. Its one of my frankenfood staples, along with low carb tortillas.

I bought two boxes last week, I have been putting it of for fear of being disappointed. I tried 2 day ago. It tasted like pasta to me. :yum:

I can't wait to look for it! Actually DH goes there on his way home from the airport, but, in any event, can't wait!

I tent to buy it in bulk to save on P&P which is a bit steep. Last time I ordered, I had 3 packets of the lasagne, some linguini and 2 of the spaghetti

I always pick it up for myself and DD who is diabetic, because it does not spike her sugar, I usually am down in weight the day after I eat it too, I think I'll have some this weekend :yum:
