I didn't believe it - but 50% of the 7 grams of carbo in Metamucil is SUGAR!!!

I need more fiber, esp during induction - but where to go???? I don't want 3.5 of my precious daily 20 grams of carbs to be in Metamucil. Maybe I should just eat sawdust!!!!!!! :help: :help: :help:

Metumucil is not good times my friend. It is a very harsh fiber and you need alot of water to properly flush it through your system. I would go out and get yourself some ground (also sold as milled) flax seed. It is easy to bake with and incorprate into your diet. Good luck!

I agree with the above poster about milled flaxseed. Makes for a great muffin! If you're going to stick with Metamucil, though, Dr. Atkins' specified using one of the sugar-free versions for precisely that reason (at least in the '92 version). There are a couple of kinds now, apparently (http://www.metamucil.com/products/meta_sugarfree_powders.shtml) . 5 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fiber.

I came home from store w/ Fiber-sure - which seems nearly free of sugar. Your postings were fun and helpful .......and my goodness, I already have a box of milled flax seed (unopened) .........so I shall see what I need to be doing w/ that, as well. :agree:

There are fiber pills you can take with no carbs or sugar (fibercon), also a powder called Konsyl, It tastes like crap but it works.
