I decided this morning that I'm going to write to the marketing team for metformin/Glucophage and suggest a new slogan:
"Metformin: Run like the wind"
Just wanted to share.

LOL May I ask why??? As a metformin user I'm baffled!

Because the longer I take this stuff, the more a certain side-effect seems to "run" through my day!
I do like what the meds did for my IR, but I really hope I can get off of them someday, if only to give my system a break!

I must be an odd one! I do not have that side effect. In fact I haven't needed to "run" for days. No tummy troubles at all.
I forgot that was a common side effect!
So do you think the met is helping with weightloss? It seems mine is much slower on it.

When I first started it (8 months ago now), I lost about 25 pounds over the first 4 months or so. I was thrilled! Since September, though, nothing. I've started the meat and eggs thing today to see if I can't get things moving again, so we'll see.
As for the side effect... it's funny. I had a bad 24 hours or so when I first started, then it cleared right up and I thought it was going to be fine. What I'm finding, though, is the longer I stay on this drug, the worse it gets at times. Not intollerably so, although I had a couple of days where I wasn't sure if it was the drug or the flu, but just overall, I've noticed things have changed. (Hee, it's so much fun trying to talk about this without talking about it, if you know what I mean!) Anyway, it's dropped my fasting BG level by about 10 points or so, but that might be the weight loss, too. Who knows?

My bg has been much better on it (1000 mg 2x daily)However I sure could use a tad of the sidee ffect we are talking but not really talking about! LOL
Good luck on M&E!!!!!
