Given the paucity of homind remains, inter tribal warfare
seems unlikely. There were *lots* of other predators to fight
with. And given the paucity of hominid remains, small tribal
units seem likely. The most likely outcome of two tribes
meeting was an orgy. They needed all the genetic diversity
they could get. Think about the problems of inbred
hillbillies.

Not that sticks & stones would not have been useful against
hyenas, canines, & cats.
