Medical News Article on Microbiology

Research from University of North Carolina provides new data
about microbiology

2007 JAN 10 -- Current study results from the report,
"Capsular polysaccharide phase variation in Vibrio
vulnificus," have been published. According to recent
research from the United States, "Commonly found in raw
oysters, Vibrio vulnificus poses a serious health threat to
immunocompromised individuals and those with serum iron
overload, with a fatality rate of approximately 50%. An
essential virulence factor is its capsular polysaccharide
(CPS), which is responsible for a significant increase in
virulence compared to nonencapsulated strains."

Any Jesus that was a vegetarian was NOT the Jesus of the
Christian bible but another Jesus and worshiped by pagans.

"Overload" is the key word. This article as do all others
posted do not support the "iron is the cause of all disease
because people eat meat" notion. That iron can be toxic in
some specific cases is not new and the poster did not discover
it. As in all things we require or we will die is moderation
in consumption, including iron. That is what all iron research
hsows, it does not support in anyones mind but the poster that
it causes all disease. Low iron is know to cause mental
confusion however.

I posted the article ..

Didn't .. I .. ?

YOU must of missed .. it ..

You should actually .. know .. at least a .. little ABOUT
something .. BEFORE .. you open your trap ..

Of course the researchers who SAID it IS .. possible .. don't
hold a .. candle .. to YOUR .. expertise ..

Eh ..

http://exchange.healthwell.com/news.cfm?news=1746

<<snip>> "it is probable that a chronically high intake of
heme iron can lead to high body iron stores and thus may
elevate the risk of diabetes," the authors said. " <<snip>>

And of course the FACT you didn't ALREADY read the above ..
means .. ?

You SPECIFICALLY come onto one of MY threads .. and SAY ..
"there is no evidence" .. when in FACT you .. have NO IDEA ..
there .. IS .. 'evidence' .. but then again we have already
established your .. abilities .. TO .. decipher .. EVIDENCE ..

"Low iron is know to cause mental confusion however." Quite
true (yes I got the humor also)

AND

I don't know how long it has been known (Decades) that high
care should be taken (only when REALLY defined) on giving
children any iron supplements. The same goes for seniors (men
over 17 or women past menopause)

That doesn't exclude that many are prescribed a B complex
including Folate to make proper use of iron.

Minerals have a fast acting dichotomy. They are an absolute
requirement but can build.

Insufficient amounts of any can be disastrous and once a
critical positive amount is reached the negatives set in. Many
many more people suffer from insufficiency in certain (most)
minerals than suffer from over exposure.

And, yes, there is no research that has shown that it is even
POSSIBLE to overload on iron with meats, even overloading on
liver doesn't do it.

A point of curious interest: Any of the know negatives of
liver are countered with onions (Sufficiency can be debated).
The favorite method of serving liver is liver and onions.

I know what you mean on all points. (and agree)
