Okay so I went out on Fri.night had about 4 0r 5 vodka/soda waters....woke up sat. with headache that nothing would help and got persistantly worse until finally had to get ecedrine migraine med. that helped for a while woke up yesterday still had headache all day took med. but still woke up this morning with same persistant pain in the head. The pain is only on one side (right) seems like a lot of pressure behind my right eye area. I am not sure if this is stemming from the vodka/lc combantion or what. I need some feedback on what to do ...it is not fuuny anymore. Has anyone else had experience like this? What should I do? Please help! :help:

I've found for myself that I just can't drink while LCing because it makes me really, really ill. I had a 3 day migraine from two glasses of red wine once. I've experimented to see if there's anything I can have in small amounts but I find that pretty much all alcohol makes me sick to some degree. I just don't drink anymore, which was a bit weird over the holidays but at least I wasn't sick all the time.

a lot of folks experience similar problems when low carbing. there are at least a couple of threads on this if you do a search. I've had to cut out red wine, and cut any drinking down to 1-2 regualr sized alcoholic beverages or I'm asking for trouble. Most folks cut drinking out too because your body burns this first for fuel which slows down the fat loss.

And when you get to goal, 4-5 vodkas is going to be an awful lot for someone of your size.

As noted, alcohol hits LCers VERY differently than the rest of the world. It could be that you just got hit hard. It could be that someone slipped something in your drink that's left a trace behind.

You might consider one of those hangover-powders from a decent health food store; but read the ingredients and I wouldn't try the kind they sell at a quick stop. If the headache isn't changing with time (and WATER!!) you might also want to talk to your doctor. If your drink WAS spiked, it's probably too late to do anything much but you need to change where you're drinking, and probably with whom, too.

Good luck.

If you are on induction I don't believe alcohol is allowed at all. Also, the "induction flu" includes a headache that for me, last 5 days...drink lots of water and lay off the booze for awhile and see if that helps?

I think I nearly killed myself on Christmas Eve (unfortunately, I really mean that... my husband was on the brink of taking me to the hospital). I was so sick the next day all day (and felt so guilty for making myself sick on Christmas) and continued to be sick until I drank orange juice and ate some high sugar desert (my blood sugar tested a little low).

Anyway.... I'm staying completely away from alcohol except perhaps the occasional beer (no whiskey or hard alcohol)... I hate low-carb beer but I have resolved to drink no more than one regular beer and very, very, very seldom.

WoW sorry to hear that...I wonder why the low carb diet causes such a low tolerance maybe because there is no carbs to absorb it? Humm! guess it makes sence.

That certainly plays a part, but I think it has more to do with the switch to fat burning rather than burning all those carbs for fuel, but maybe one of the more scientifically minded folks around here can chime in on how alcohol affects the process.
