I'm also back in the game, and am currently 170 pounds -- need to change my ticker.
Anyway, I've been on this diet since 1/2 -- it's now the 6th. I feel like crap. Tired, unable to sleep well, wanting carbs (though not ever hungry), lethargic, crampy.
I can't remember feeling this way the first time I did Atkins, more than a year ago. Is this normal?? Does it go away?? I'm drinking water, taking vitamins, and eating the requisite daily salad. I haven't cheated at all.

Yes its normal. Its sometimes referred to as the induction flu. I had it only for about 36 hours or so but other have had it for a week, maybe more? Just stay on plan and it will pass. Good Luck!

Yes, I posted this 2 days ago, look down at SBD LC "flu" or somethign like that. I do feel better now though. It took about 3-4 days. Take it easy and drink tons of water. It gets easier regarless of which plan!

I'm right there with you. I'm trying to remember that if I break down and cheat, I have to go through this crappy feeling again--but if I stay on track I'll soon feel great. (just have to keep repeating that!)

I am really glad that I am not the only one that has had this "flu". I started the SBD on the 1st, and I still feel tired a lot, I have trouble sleeping... One good thing is the headache's that I was having are gone now. One step in the right direction.

It goes away! Mine just passed after 4-5 days. Now I feel really good. Last year when I started this I worried so much about it, but it passed then too. Hang in there!

Ladies I promise you, unless you have some kind of underlying problem, this will pass. You are going to be surprised at how well you sleep. You will stop having heartburn. Your legs will stop swelling and so many other benefits. two weeks is really such a short time(okay, I know it doesn't feel like it now.) you can get through this and then just wait. You are in for some real discoveries.

Thanks for all of the kind and supportive words, and thank goodness there are others out there who know what I'm talking about!

Guess I should have found this thread before I posted my own under the atkins thread. Im feeling that exact same way. Sorta nauseous, headachy. its lunch time now, and at least i feel better then i did this morning! Another thing thats bothering me is the 'two week' thingy. by then I'll be leaving on holidays and I'm worried that if i go off Atkins, when I get back from holidays ill have to go thru all this again.
Fatnewmom posted on Saturday, wonder how she's doing today....?

Yes, if you go significantly off your plan while you're on holiday, you may have to go through Induction again in order to get back into ketosis. You may experience the Induction Flu again. It might be worse, or it may not be as severe the second time it hits you. Everyone's experience is different.
Enjoy your holiday! :)

It's day 9, and I'm starting to feel a little better. Still had vertigo yesterday and light nausea today, but overall better. I'm enjoying the food.

Make sure that you're drinking all your eater!! Dizziness can be from dehydration.

Thanks, Judynyc. I am probably not drinking enough water, so I'll increase consumption & see if this dizziness goes away.

Have you had a checkup with your doctor? Hows your blood pressure?
Do you take any supplements?
