add a powder protein supplement? I am almost done with my first week of induction.

Hi, mddfire,
Just curious - why would you want to add a protein powder supplement? Are you not getting enough protein on Atkins? That would be odd, and is particularly ironic given that this diet is often criticized for being about way too much protein!
What sorts of things do you generally eat on a day-to-day basis?

Howdy mddfire!
I would wait a spell. Go through an entire, clean induction and then think about it.
Even if you are using protein due to working out.
I used protein shakes as a quick fail safe when I traveled for a long time. In fact I still do. Now I have one after every workout as well.
But, this is definately a your mileage may vary type of thing.
Do a clean induction and then consider it. (Btw, I generally add fat to mine in the form of cream, full fat yogurt, full fat kefir or cocnut milk. each alone or in any combination, I add about 4 -6 oz to the 11 oz shake.)
When LCing it is definately easy to take in a lot of protein. oo few people consider increasing their fat intake though, thus I add it to my shakes. The more fat I consume, the faster I lose weight.

I used whey powder as a quick "fill me up" when the office mid afternoon hungries would hit. that was about 3 months into my induction though. As everyone else has said, hold off as much as you can.
Why don't you post some menu's? I am getting the feeling if you are hungry it is becuase you perhaps aren't eating enough?

Hi, everyone. For breakfast I usually have 2 eggs and sausage. Lunch.. hamburger with a little cheese sprinkled on it, chicken salad, chicken breast or a couple slices ham rolled up with cream cheese. For snack I have tuna salad with cheese on it. I also eat salads, celery with a cheese dip made out of different types of shredded cheese, which also has sour cream and mayo in it. Dinner I have a meat and broccoli or cauliflower with a little cheese.
I like the protein shakes so was just wondering if I could use those as an afternoon snack. Plus they are fast.
This is my second try with atkins. Fell off the program after a vacation during the summer. Now I am back at it.
Thanks for your help!

your menu seems ok to me, you may want to watch the amount of cheese though... for induction, 4oz is the allowable limit so a lot of people use that sparingly.
i completely understand the desire for something quick and easy during the day, but i'd say for right now concentrate on doing a clean induction. if you want a snack, keep some beef jerky in your desk, or some pork rinds.
welcome back!
