I have recently ordered the Dr. Atkin's New Revolution Diet book. I am so eager to start reading it. Everyone in these formus seems this will give me better insight to the diet and how it works. I have only lost 8lbs altogether and none in the last week or so. I know I need to start exercising but Im so tired when I get home from work. Also, I do have a question. I have been using the Ketosis sticks and the color never changes. Thats very discouraging. Hopefully, when I get the book and start keeping a journal, I will start to lose again. Any suggestions or support will be greatly appreciated. ;)

If you want quicker help on the ketosis thing, let us know what you are eating. Could be there's something carby in it that you haven't recognized.
As for exercise, it certainly helps to park farther away from the door. Could you adjust your schedule so you can work out in the morning, even if it's only for 10 minutes? Over time as you adjust to LC living, you may find you have more energy. I haul my workout gear to the office and exercise in the parking lot because it's hard to get going when I walk in the door of my house at the very end of the day.

try to get some exercise in before work. It might just change everything for you.

In my experience, those ketosis strips are a huge waste of money. When I tried them, the color never changed but...I've lost 102 lbs
I agree with cs_carver, post a sample menu and let us see what you're eating. You just may be eating or drinking something that you don't realize may be causing you to stall.

My diet has been mainly eggs and bologna, ham or bacon in the morning. Lunch is a small salad with either a hamburger patty with cheese or chicken breast. Supper is about the same as lunch except I will have broccoli or salad. I drink at least 60 - 80oz of water. Only 2 cups of cooffee in the morning with aritficial sugar. No soda except mabe a diet soda when we go out to eat. I take a multi vitamin daily. On weekends is the hardest. We go out to eat, mostly chinese food. Would that do it? I try to make the right choices. I do know I need to excerise even a little. I will get the old tredmill out of the attic and try to walk on it some in the mornings before work but that is my computer time:)

Hayes,
I'd be very careful of the bologna, ham & bacon. All are high in sodium and could be causing you to retain water. They usually also contain sugar...be sure to read labels. Cheese has also been known to stall some people. Be careful. Drink LOTS of water!! (I usually drink 128 oz a day). Coffee should be decaf. The caffeine causes blood sugar spikes for most people and this can be a problem. What kind of artificial sugar & how much are you using? Chinese food can be a HUGE red flag! Sodium, corn starch, sugars. Try to stick with grilled meats & veggies.
All the best to you!!

I agree with Kim. Watch out for the sodium and Chinese food! Chinese food always causes me to retain water, there's usually a 1-2 lb gain the next day! Drinking lots of water and eating nothing but meat and egg for the next couple of days usually gets rid of the water gain.
I drink coffee also, one cup first thing in the morning with Da Vinci sugar free syrup, either coconut oil or heavy cream. Then another cup later at work with just the sf syrup. Doesn't seem to stall me.
Good luck!

when you say the stix aren't changing color, you mean they're registering negative? or you're stuck on one shade of trace or small? being in ketosis is like being pregnant... you either are or you aren't, so if the stix turn any shade of pink/purple at all, then you're in ketosis. you're drinking a lot of water too, which is a GOOD thing, so the stix may not be registering because the ketones are getting diluted. that's fine.
as far as the chinese food goes... how much pressure is there to go? i mean, is it possible to suggest someplace else? there are a wide range of restaurants that easily offer lowcarb meals... chili's, red lobster, and black angus are my favorites. if everyone wants the chinese though, if there's a teppanyaki place available, try that. they prepare everything in front of you, and just tell them you want NO RICE.

Just wondering, where do you get the sticks? Are they in a drugstore or is it something you have to order online?
