One of the funniest commercials I've ever seen is from the
Geico caveman campaign: An impeccably dressed Neanderthal
closes a menu at an opulent restaurant and asks for "the roast
duck with the mango salsa."
I can't remember exactly what was being advertised, but I've
always been eager to sample this mysterious "mango salsa" and
was pleasantly surprised last week to have such an
opportunity.

16, 2006 Know More: Humor, In the News, Media, Humor The story
about researchers starting to crack Neanderthal genetic code
is exciting because if they can take the code and compare it
to human DNA and see if interbreeding occurred.
Once they get to that point, I think their first research step
is to grab all of those guys with the huge brow ridges and
fuzzy eyebrows - I'm sure there's some Neanderthal in there
somewhere.
And if we find that humans and Neanderthals did interbreed -
the burning question is obvious: What will Geico do about
their caveman commercials?
Caveman Geico
While humorous, the commercials have revealed a surreal side
to some people I know. I witnessed a heated discussion about
whether the cavemen had the right to sue Geico for slander.
That, my friends, is advertising.
