i see many different abbreviations on this site. when i encounter them i'm in the habit of making up absurd meanings in my mind because i really have not the faintest clue what they mean. am i the only one who is completely lost with this shortened lingo?

please, someone provide me with a dictionary of the vocab used on this forum along with their meanings.

i DID figure out that LC stands for low-carb...gosh my critical thinking skills are amazing, huh?

Well my DH (dear husband) doesn't have droopy hair! :D

If you go to "Tips" on the green menu bar at the top of the screen, you'll find "Low Carb Lingo" that will help you. :)

I don't know of a "dictionary" related specifically to this forum. Many of the acronyms you see are sort of a "standard Internet shorthand." Just run "emoticons" on Google and you'll find many lists that include most of them. There are a few I had a hard time interpreting, myself -- YMMV (your mileage may vary), for example. I hadn't seen that before I became a member here. There is still one I'm wondering about, but I gather, based on the discussion that was taking place in the thread where I saw it, that it was a "private joke" among friends.

Years ago, when I was new to the Internet in general, and forums specifically, I printed out several of the pages for myself, so I could interpret what I was reading online. I passed them along to a neighbor when she got her first computer.

Have fun! :)

How did you know exactly what I was thinking?!? I had just read some posts with the abbr.'s and thought what in the heck are they saying......I'm sure when those who are Sr.'s read this they will think...silly newbies!
Hey, we just have to get used to those abbr.'s everywhere! My 18 yr. old says "bye mom, BRB" I've gotten used to those. It's real tough getter older (48) and try keeping up!! Thanks for asking what I was thinking!! Have a GREAT LC day!! Mimi2

Of course, it could also be the World Amateur Poker Tour...
