When my diet is low carb I feel I cannot stop smoking, I need to eat something and I give up - I cannot stop smoking and I will eat. I hate this! Help you help? I know that I might need a help of someone else, also have read that it's possible needed to check something else, not low carb... any opinions are wellcome

I wish I could tell you how to do it, but I can't. I'm in the same boat though, and at least you know your not the only one!! :agree: I struggle with LCing, but I know I HAVE to stop smoking. I'm afraid of 2 things. Eating everything in sight, or failing at both things I'm trying to do. I'm going to be setting a date soon, so if and when you feel ready, contact me and we can try it together!! ;) Good luck and Happy New Year!!

*raises hand slowly* I found it easier to stop smoking when I was low-carb compared to the other times. Did you know smoking can cause a lot of the same biochemical processes as eating carbs?
I'm *counting on fingers* 4 years nonsmoking.

load up on low carb, or better yet no carb treats and quit.

Well, we all know how bad smoking is for your health. It's a no brainer. But maybe making 2 life changes at once could be too much to handle. That's why I quit smoking first and am just now starting LC'ing. It's really mind over matter when it comes down to it. Good luck!

How about asking your doctor for some help with the withdrawl process? I understand they've got pretty good aids to help you stop smoking now. If not that, then try the patch. It helped me!

Do you think you're smoking/eating is emotionally based and that's why you need to fall back on one of those things?
I think NancyLC 's idea about the patch would be a good idea. Work on your diet as you slowly cut down on the nicotine fix. I think getting new lifestyle habits to help you relax at the same time would help. There is a quitting smoking thread on this site somewhere, where you can get some good support for what you're going through.

Sometimes, it's easier to make bigger changes. For me, there has never been any use in "moderation," the "just eat (or drink, or smoke) LESS" game. Giving up carbs (almost completely) is MUCH easier that eating fewer, given the effect they have on me.
You will gain less overeating legitimately low carb foods. Can't make any promises about the "fake" low carb foods with sugar alcohols and would hate to stress a detoxing body with those frankenfood products anyway. Lots of water, as much exercise as you can manage, and LC, and it will probably be a whole lot easier within a week or two.
good luck.
