Just a question to throw out there - what plan are you on and which is the best for diabetics?

I think you have two of the best ones listed. Staying under 30g of carbs daily and watching my portion sizes works for me. But I get off track from time to time, especially this time of year.

How is your control? Are you happy with your meter readings?

codergal- I follow the South Beach plan. I think that makes me a bit of an oddity on the diabetes forum and I have been reluctant to discuss it here, but over the last 10 years, I have tried them all. I am the happiest and more importantly feeling the best on this one. I get great blood test results, I feel comfortable with and love what I eat. I feel like this is something I can follow for life. I think we get into a danger zone when we talk about which is the "best" plan. I think any plan that works for an individual is the "best" for them. If you are getting the test results that you want, if you are feeling good and able to "stick" with what you're doing, then it is the one for you. Ultimately any plan that lowers your carb intake will be beneficial, but carb tolerance for diabetics seems to me to vary among individuals. You have to find what is right for you and your body! JMHO, but it will be interesting to hear what others have to say!

100 percent agreement here!
If FBG is bad,a GOOD doctor is a necessity.
Diet is very important.
Some supplements are useful.
Some experimenting to see what works best for you.

Hi, my hubby and I are starting the Bernstein Plan and trying to stay under 30 carbs a day. My hubby is diabetic, but I am not, I am just extremely overweight and need to lose, so I sure hope this plan works for me and my hubby as well. Wish me luck. Happy New Year to All
