Anyone currently taking it? How has it affected your weight if all? I have gained some...but it could be from being lazy rather than starting the med.

I'm not an expert but I don't think any of the SSRIs affect metabolism. If you're a nervous-eater, it may lessen anxiety and you'll eat less. If you just like to eat, it may lessen your inhibitions against eating too much. Therefore you'll put weight on.
I tried prozac several years ago. All I remember is it made me less interested in exercising. So I flushed the pills.

Most SSRIs in most people result in weight gain. Wether it's due to the actual drug or the actions resulting after taking the drug is anyone's guess.
Love it - I lost 15 pounds when I started on it 4 years ago and at that time, I was not overweight (125 pounds) and became far too thin (110 pounds). Then, my thyroid "died" and I put on all of the weight. Jill

I had the opposite problem: gained tons on Lexapro. Somewhere in the range of 20-25 lbs in three months. Was it the drug or the depression that caused the gain? Was it overeating trying to self medicate? Or increased appetite from meds or from feeling better? Really impossible to know but if I had it to do all over again I would have 1) stuck with a low carb *and* calorie controled way of eating 2) found some way to force myself to exercise more (although in hindsight I think I was getting more then than now). Note both of those things were pretty dang hard when I was expending a huge amount of mental adn physical energy just making myself get out of bed and dressed each day (and a lot of days that never happend).

I have been on Lexapro for over a year and the first month, I lost weight (10 lbs) but then other than that, I don't feel like it has affected my weight.
Love my Lexapro! The only issue is if I take it in the AM, I have sleeping problems, but if I take it at night I'm fine. Weird, huh?!

I'm the same way I have to take mine at night.

I take half at night and half in the morning, all at once makes me tired.
I gained when I first went on it, but I think it was because it made me so sleepy that I just didn't feel like moving at all. After my body adjusted to it I was fine and I can lose weight fine on it.

I gained while on it. But I was also self medicating with food...I come from a long line of alcholics....I am a foodaholic
