I was craving some of my Grandmother's German cooking, looked over about 15 recipes for ideas, and then went to the kitchen and came up with this. :yum:
Green Beans with Bacon Vinaigrette

Recipe By : Dawn
Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00
-------- ------------ --------------------------------

1 pound of green beans
5 slices bacon
3 Tablespoons bacon drippings
1/2 medium onion -- sliced, thin
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
2 Tablespoons Splenda
salt -- to taste
pepper -- to taste

Wash beans. Cut off ends and cut into 1 " pieces. Steam until tender, about 15 - 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cook bacon and drain & crumble. Reserve bacon drippings. Cook the sliced onion in 2 T. of drippings until golden brown. Remove from heat. To the onions, add red wine vinegar, splenda, salt & pepper & 1 additional T. of bacon drippings. Toss the vinaigrette with the green beans in a serving dish. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top and serve.

Pork chops in Beer
Recipe By : Dawn
Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00
------- ------------ --------------------------------
4 large pork chops
salt -- to taste
pepper -- to taste
12 ounces Miller Lite
1/4 medium onion -- sliced

Salt & pepper both side of chops and brown over medium high heat. When browned, turn heat to low, add 1 can of beer and the sliced onion. Cover and braise the chops, turning them occasionally, until the beer is almost gone (about 30 - 45 minutes). You will have thick "gravy like" drippings with onions at the end which gives the chops a nice brown appearance, serve this on top of pork chops. Very tender!
