Today is Day 10 of induction on Atkins, I haven't caved in to my carb cravings, so I didn't blow it this evening, but:

I am Type 2 taking Actos & Metformin.

I am having a very difficult evening. I am not hungry at all, but I'm craving something so I keep eating.

For dinner I had a 14oz New York Strip around 6:00.

In the last hour I have ate 2 brats and 4 fried eggs with cheese. I could easily eat 2 more brats and 4 more eggs.

My sugar is 89.

What's happening to me tonight? I just want to keep eating.

I was on metformin when I first went low carb. After 3 days I couldn't keep my blood sugar stable (I'm hypoglycemic). I talked to my physician and she told me to back off the metformin, I didn't need it any more.

Please contact your physician. You may need an adjustment to your dosages.

Wow, with numbers at 89, I bet you could come off some of your drugs, too! But metformin has been shown to help with dieting, and actos has been shown to cause weight gain, so I'd ask to come off the actos if possible.

I take both those drugs, too.

Drugrep, please hang in there. It took a little longer than 10 days for the appetite suppresion that lowcarbing is famous for to really kick in for me. Seems like it took about 3 weeks of truly keeping the carbs down and staying cheat free before I really started to tell a difference. Then, every week since then has gotten progressively easier, and I've eaten less and less food because I just don't feel like eating. I started out 12 weeks ago eating 1700 - 2100 calories, and now I'm down to 1200 - 1600 (only had 975 yesterday) and I'm still not hungry or craving!

Here's a satisfying snack that's hardly any carbs or calories: Make a big mug of sodium free chicken bouillion and stir in a tablespoon of cream. Add some salt substitute if you want, and you'll be getting some extra potassium too.

Too much protein perhaps? 14 oz steak is a bit too much IMHO. I udner stand you are male, but still, this is almost a poud of meat in one sitting. have you tried to reduce protein and increase fat, I have noticed that too much protein triggers cravings, and is easy to overeat. while fat curb appetite. How about eating something that is high in fat but lower in protein: cremacheese, sourcream, mayo, nuts? Just a thought.

How about some high fiber veggies paired with fat: celery, bell peppers, cucumbers, fennel, avocado, olives and cream cheese, mayo, sourcream, nuts. Even a bran cracker with lots of butter will curb your appetite. Fiber will give you fullness and fat is appetite suppressant.
