Hello, Need some info for a family member (58 yrs old) who has
problems with ligaments/discs in the knee, back and foot.

She is allergic to glucosamine/chondritis. Feels discomfort in
the stomach/chest. Could be due to being allergic to sulfates.
She is able to eat cooked chicken though.

has anyone tried chicken collagen II to rebuild cartilage?

I also read about that a specific vitamin B (not mentioned)
played a role in rebuilding cartilage. Any info here?

She does take a complex B vitamin in liquid form, but no
progress so far...

THANKS

She ought to eat copious amounts of extremely nutritious
home-made from-scratch chicken soup make from whole cut-up
well-fed chickens with skin on, and fresh as possible garden
produce. For an extra collagenic boost, throw in some
chickens feet.

Insofar as supplements go, I would point out that vitamin C is
crucial to collagen formation. I would recommend calcium
ascorbate in powder form. It is buffered and easier on the
stomach than straight ascorbic acid. 2 to 4 thousand mgs three
to four times a day with food. If it causes her problems with
loose bowels, cut it nack to where she can tolerate it.

Keep up the B vitamin supplemenst too, they work
synergetically with all other nutrients.

Here is a simple recipe:

One whole chicken cut up. A leg or two would be great. 2
onions 1 or 2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 tablespoon vinegar
2/2 teaspoon savory

Bring to boil and simmer for an hour or two.

Strain broth out, debone chicken and reserve meat. You might
want to chill the broth and skim the excess fat off.

In the broth, add three potatoes diced, and three carrots
diced. Simmer for 15 minutes. Add meat and simmer till veggies
are done. Adjust seasoning to taste.
