I am starting a wellness club for both students and staff at the highschool I teach at! I am SO EXCITED!!!!! I have been thinking about this for some time, but honestly it was sublime's post about her pre-teen daughter needing to lose 15 pounds, an my respons that "if ONLY I had started eating whole and natural no sugar not processed foods at 15" thought that truely prompted me!

Anyway the goal is going to be to get students (mostly non-athletes) and staff together and we will work out 3-4 days a week... and have a speaker come a couple times a month. We are going to focus on lots of aspects of wellnes, nutrition, exercise, emotional wellness.... Anyway pretty much it should be a great way to stay accountable!!!!

I just had to share... and THANK YOU all for encouraging me to "stay the course" the past 6 months... yes, yesterday was my SOUTHBEACH 6Mo "anniversary" 6 months and about 60 pounds!

What a great idea  !!!!!! I wish more schools would do that. One thing that drives me crazy in my 9yr daughters school, is often if the class gets in trouble, they take away recess. This drives me crazy for 2 reasons, one, the loss of excersize time, 2, if the kids are acting up, they probly need to blow off some steam. Just my opinion. Did I mention tomorrow I sign up at the college by my house for my teacher assistant certificate? If I like it I will go on to get my bachelors in teaching. Wish me luck :p

Great idea Camelle. Something like that would have benifited me too. I hate to see overweight teenagers it just breaks my heart. I'm glad there are people out there doing something about it!

Wonderful idea. It breaks my heart to see all the overweight kids. Glad your school is backing your plan.

Good Luck with your program.

Camelle- I think it is an excellent idea! Hopefully you will have a good turnout of people wanting to participate. Keep us updated on how it's going!
