Hey everyone,
One of the reasons I gain weight is that sweets are a reward for me. Such as, I had a really bad day, I deserve an ice cream. I've been taking care of everyone else all day, I deserve a couple candy bars. I'm feeling blue, some pancakes will make me feel better. I don't do anything for myself, I should eat some cake, its the only thing I get for myself. I would like some suggestions from everybody. What do you do for yourself, and what do you think might work for me. Keep in mind I have 3 kids at home, and I'm a stay at home Mom, so they can't be to terribly time consuming. Thanks everybody!!!  :D :cheer: :dazzle:

Sugar free ice cream or chocolate has helped me through the worst of times. Its a bit more expensive than "normal" stuff....but it doesn't taste any different.

I have had sf choc covered nuts. That works like a charm but I can't keep them on hand because I easily overeat them! Sometimes hot tea with a splash of milk feels like a real treat. (I would lock myself up alone to enjoy it in solitude!) Can you tell I am a SAHM too?

I set myself up a system of rewards for 15lbs lost I get a pedicure (traded it for a purse instead), for 30 I plan a full body massage. Those are big indulgences for me, since I don't work outside of the house.

Tim, thanks for the idea, and is sugar free ice cream and chocolate ok on Phase I?

FAFU, I couldn't keep the ch. covered nuts around either, I would eat every one of them!!! Yes, I can tell your a SAHM. Not many others lock themselves in a bathroom to get some solitude, LOL!!!! My deal with myself was first 15, I get a new outfit. Haven't really decided from there. Great suggestions, and I'll be stopping by your journal soon if you don't mind.

No...I woudn't have those on phase one but ask an expert (which I am not! lol). The hot tea would be.

Stop by my journal but you won't find much! I'm pathetic and I can't keep up with it.

HI! and WOO HOO to you for being a sahm of 3! WOW! I have a 1 year old, and am not home full time, and still occasionally feel the need to lock myself in the bathroom...oops... we had to take the lock off that door, becasue the 1year old figured outhow to lock it, but not unlock it! YOW... anyway, back to your question...

I have non food rewards. And sometimes its a nonfood reward just for making it through a really tough day w/o cheating. (those are usually very small... but things like a sf "skinny" latte are sometimes all I need to talk myself out of cheating.)

I got myself a really pretty bracelet for 40 pounds. everything els has been pretty small.

Sometimes a "reward" for me is just asking DH to watch Kyson and going grocery shopping by myself, so I can think, and make sure I buy only "good stuff".

No, sugar free ice cream is something you can try when you get to phase II. But while in phase I, you can have 2 no sugar added fudgsicles each day!!

I nuke mine in the microwave for a few seconds and then push it off the sticks into a cup...top it off with a bit of whipped cream. :yum:

I won't even comment on the ch. covered nuts ladies!!

One of my big non food treats is getting my hair done, the works wash, trim, and curl. I have really long hair so I only get this done about every 3 months. I trim my hair myself most of the time. If you have a beatuty school near you its a great cheap way to get pedicure, manicure and hair cuts.
Ask hubby or grandparents to watch the kiddies for you.

And another way I treat myself is go to the dollar store or cheap store and buy a pair of new socks. You know the fun ones like halloween, Christmas. Most times I only spend $1-2. I used to buy shoes, now its just the socks.

I also do some crafts I sew a bit, scrapbook, and just got into making cards. So I treat myself to some new gadgets from the craft stores.

I was down sized out of my job almost 3 years ago, and I have my 16 month old Grandson 4 days a week. So I have a budget too. :agree:
