Hey guys I have been very busy with school but thought about the diet all week. I have been very strict about my diet this week and I weighed today I am down to 371.5... I thought that I would have lost more...I do not know what I am doing wrong.. Once upone a time I could lose 2 pounds a day not 2 pounds a week.. This past week I have had very few carbs..i.e. little cabbages and chewing gum.. I wonder if the diet gum is jamming me up? I still drike coffee and I use the gum for a breathment. I also drink coolaid sweetend with splinda.. As far as exercize I have been doing better..so I thought I would lose more due to the extra exercize. I thought wrong..
Chow for now! Wish I could be more positive but the only thing I am positive about is that I am not losing as fast as I would like.. I no that I am doing something wrong but I don't no what it is yet...

don't panic yet :)..if you have increased your physical activity, it is probably muscle buildup - give it some mroe time - a few weeks, and I am willing to bet that you will see the losses :)

I have never lost better with exercise! Now I know exercise is good for you, and I know that I am still losing inches and changing the shape of my body, but as far as the scale is concered, it doesn't help. Keeping busy and doing physical activities was much better than the intense workouts that I now do. But on the other hand, I can run 6 km without stopping and I can feel actual muscles under my skin!

leekno, 2 pds a week is a very good rate of weight loss! All those times you started diets and lost 9 pounds the first week and 5 pounds the second - that was water.
I'm sure you know that, and believe me, I understand the feelings of discouragement, but hang in there! Stay the course!
What's the hurry if this is how you plan to eat forever? And if you're not planning to eat this way forever, then you're wasting your time anyway, right?

This is my second trip around on Atkins and the first time the weight poured off. Now it is taking it's slow steady time and I'm actually glad! If it takes longer for weight to come off then you appreciate it more! Or at least that is my opinion! I lost it so fast and didn't have to even work at it the last time and that got me into trouble! Because I gained it right back! I have to work for every pound that comes off now and that keeps me straight! 2 pds. a week is alot of weight to lose! In 1 year that is what ummm 104pds and that my friend is a TON of weight to be gone!!

A couple of things from my experience:

1. You're gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. This is a very good thing, because muscle burns fat. Start checking the tape measure for feedback in addition to the scale - I bet the inches are still coming off.
2. You are still losing at a decent weight. Losing 2 lbs a week is pretty decent when extrapolated over the long term, and it's certainly WAY better than regaining the weight, which you'd do if you fell off the wagon. Think of what you've gained just from being on the diet for as short a time as you have. If you never lost another pound, wouldn't it be worth it?
3. The fake sugars could well impede your progress. They make me lose way more slowly than I otherwise would.
4. Caffeine messes with a lot of people's blood sugar, which could make you hungry and could therefore make you eat more than you otherwise would.
5. You WILL hit plateaus, during which you will lose very little or nothing. Be mentally prepared for this. You could just be in one of those phases. If you stick to it, though, you WILL start to lose again.

Good luck-

Hey, just think about the post that you're fitting in shirts you couldn't fit into before. . .

Makes all the difference in the world.

Everyone else has given you really good advice, I just wanted to let you know that I too had problmens when I first started out with the gym. I expected the lbs to be falling off me but my weight stayed the same for week which kind of freaked me out. I spoke to one of the other guys at the gym who told me that it was perfectly normal to not lose weight for the first few weeks of a new exersise regimen. Apparently your body replaces the fat with water which weighs the same, and it's not until a few weeks in that you lose that weight.
Don't worry, just keep on going and you'll soon see a difference! Make sure you measure as well as weigh!

I totally agree on this one! Whenever I start eating "sugar free" Russel Stover candy that has all that fake sugar in it I start stalling and stop passing ketones! My body doesn't like any type of carb- fake or real LOL. Maybe this is whats causing the problem. Try not chewing the gum for a few days and see if that helps.

:agree: Your right : I heard that you need to stay away from most artificial sweeteners, but I did read in one of the Atkins Reviews that it is best to use Splenda if you have to use one ! That is what I use in my occasional glass of unsweet tea! :yum:
