I'm on my 4th day of phase 2 and I have still only lost 3 pounds total! It's so discouraging. I'm going to stick with it though because I can tell that I"ve lost inches....but I want to lose WEIGHT!! I know that weight loss is different for everyone and hopefully mine will start happening because I AM going to stick with it this time

Kristal- I'm no speed demon with the weight loss thing but when I started phase 2 (not so long ago) the scale stalled, big time. Judy said hang in there, your body is catching on the what's going on. It finally moved, and if I watch my portions it moves now.

Kristal, if you are losing inches then really, don't give the scale much credence. You are losing and it doesn't matter how or why the weight isn't going along with it, if the inches are going so is the fat!! There is a phenomenon which happens on a low carb diet (doesn't seem to happen on any other plans) and it's that sometimes the numbers just take a while to catch up to the fat loss.
Fret not, stick to it, don't get discouraged - measure regularly, and you'll find the weight loss WILL follow (take it from someone who knows alllllll about slow weight loss ;) )

3lbs in 4 days?

Dr. Agatston said on phase 2 you will lose 1 or 2 lbs per week.

Sounds to me like you are losing too fast

Most of the weight loss at the start of a diet is just water weight.

Maybe your water weight was already low? Were you already restricting your eating? If so, I would not worry about it. You can really only lose 1 or 2 lbs of fat per week safely. Any more than that is likely water or lean body mass ... and unless you had a problem with water retention, those are things you dont really want to lose ...

Thinks about it ... 1lb a week is over 50lbs a year ... you are doing great

Or maybe you are retaining water ... are you eating more salt now than before you changed your diet?

There are other possible problems too .... could be medications you are taking, or even hormones.

I was restricting my diet a good bit before I started back so my water weight is low...thanks for your help!

Your menu looks pretty good. Maybe just a few more veggies will help. If you were watching your weight already when you started SBD then you probably can't expect to have that initial water weight loss. Just stay the course. A pound a week is nothing to sneeze at. If you hadn't been losing you might have been gaining. Sometimes it helps me to remember that one pound of fat is a whole block of butter. That is a whole block of fat off my body. I know it can be frustrating when things are slow, but progress is progress.

(I sometimes wish I could decide where that block comes from.. today a block from my butt, tomorrow a block from my left thigh, another from my right thigh...none from my breast!)

Well if it was possible to control it like that, all the plastic surgeons would be out of business! You wouldn't want that would you?
