:help: Just wanting some input on any diabetics out there who are doing SBD and what success you have had with this plan versus other low carb plans.

codergal- I am a Type 2 diabetic and I switched to South Beach about a month ago. I used to be on Atkins, but for very many reasons, I couldn't stay on it. I think I have found a great fit with South Beach. My body just needs more carbs than Atkins ever allowed. I just got back from my doctor and all my tests are within a normal range. I find my BS stays pretty much the same as it did with Atkins on a daily basis. I'm losing weight pretty steadily so...so far so good! :) Hope that helps! It is funny that I should see this post this morning, as last night I was wondering the same thing. I hope more people respond to this thread and talk about their experience!

I'm not surprised that you folks are finding success with South Beach. It was designed for heart patients and diabetics. Wishing you all success.

Thats great Charran!!

I didn't know you are diabetic.....it makes sense to know that as long as you are keeping your blood sugar steady, that you can eat good carbs and still lose weight. Not all diabetics have to avoid all carbs to lose weight and stay healthy. I'm really happy that this is working out well for you.

Judy- I was a little nervous starting South Beach, but over the years I have learned alot about my body and what it can and cannot tolerate blood sugar wise. I have read alot and educated myself about diabetes. I have tested and re-tested my blood sugar to the point of nauseum after eating various foods. I know there are things that are allowed on South Beach that I will never be able to eat on a regular basis, but that's OK! I think the secret to any weight loss plan is that you have to know your own body and listen to it. You have to make the necessary adjustments to suit your own make-up! It is only then that you will find success! If there are any other diabetics out there who are on SB, I'd really like to hear your story!
