Okay guys. I'm having a hard time this afternoon. I was doing good until work and family started stressing me out and I ate one handful of Munchies and a half a bag of microwave popcorn.

I have my water bottle filled, but it's still early.

Please help!

If you have to get into the snacks, make it good snacks! Celery with peanut butter, a fistful of nuts, etc....

Or a filet mignon. Seriously. If you're going to eat, eat something low-carb that's "sinful." Bacon and sausage. Whipped cream on macadamia nuts and strawberries. A steak. A burger with cheddar and blue cheese cooked in the middle of it and bacon on top. Buffalo wings. Peperoni fried in the frying pan with a little butter. An ommelete.

There are options. Choose your food, own your decision. You are not "breaking down." You are CHOOSING to eat whatever it is you put in your body. I can not stress it strongly enough - OWN YOUR DECISIONS.

AND THROW OUT THE MUNCHIES, POPCORN AND OTHER CHEAT FOODS!!! Stop giving yourself excuses and opportunities to harm yourself.

You CAN do this.

I know when I get the munchies I need something crunchy and salty. I usually reach for pork rinds. When I use to live in the states you could get them in LOTS of yummy flavors, felt like I was cheating, but was on plan. I did however make sure with pork rinds to always drink an extra glass of water or two to combat the salt (don't want to retain water right? ). Can dip pork rinds into ranch dressing (my favorite) or french onion dip, or hot sauce or anything else you like.

Also you can try zucinni chips, heat up oil in a pot, cut up zuccini into french fry shapes, drop into hot oil, fry til slightly brown, remove from oil, and season to taste (usually use a season all like lawrey's personally). Not exactly like french fries but comes close for something legal and helps with the salty craving.

Bottom line: if you are going to consume something, make it real food. Often we think we shouldn't be hungry, or we shouldn't be eating, so we just have a little something to tide us over. Only that little thing is junk!

Yup...I know how that can be.....popcorn was always my "mindless" munchy food....EAT..........there is no reason not to eat just make sure you ALWAYS have some type of lc food available to you. I buy the pork rinds that are fresh.....not the puffed up ones. They are hard and take a long time to eat...something I really have to work on. Just find something that will work for you......make sure you are taking care of yourself by eating well ALL the time.....don't let yourself get over hungry. Do deep breathing......3 slow deep breaths.....sounds lame but from one stressed out lady to another, believe me it works~ Hope the day is a good one for you~ *hugs*

MACADAMIA NUTS..seriously, the are filling, chewy and it really does take away the urge to eat other stuff...a handful of those, and you will be fun..they are expensive, but for emergencies, they are so worth the cost!

I can understand being stressed, it happens, but it is never going to stop...so do you ALWAYS give yourself this excuse to eat something to make you fail? Do you need to fail because your stressed? YOU have control of what you put in your mouth, you don't always have a choice about stress or the issues that hurt/stress you out. BUT YOU ALWAYS HAVE CONTROL of what you put in YOUR mouth!
Don't add to the problems your dealing with, that is one problem you can be in control of ALWAYS!

Really good idea. The same can be said of seeds; sunflower are okay but I mostly use pumpkin for that 'gotta work at it' effect. I also have better control with seeds than with my favorite nuts.

When I can remember to do it (which isn't that often), overeating, or at least eating to the point of fullness, on low carb stuff can help me avoid carb snacking. If it's a protein/fat combo that is carb free or very, very low in carbs, it will eventually fill me up and make me not hungry. Cheese, meat, macadamia nuts (other nuts don't work for me), nothing sweet, even artificially sweetened whipped cream, it seems to keep me hungry. Then by the time that food wears off and I could eat again, the cravings have usually passed.

Thank you guys. I did have some HC snacks yesterday, but dinner turned out good and today I'm feeling back in control.

I have this bad habit of emotional eating and sometimes it gets the best of me.

Let me add that a slip, while not a good idea, can be redeemed if you dont let it turn into a day full of slip..I advocate if you have a slip dont waste the whole day..make your next snack, meal etc a LC one..we all have a moment but if we can learn to deal to make them less frequent or how to "fix" it if it happens that goes along way!!

May I suggest that you go out and buy a nice chicken to roast to a golden brown. Don't plan a meal around it. Just keep it ready in the fridge so that if you must snack you can just go and grab a hunk. Don't overcook it. It is so much more tempting to snack on a nice moist piece than a dry one. Best wishes to you.
