I was just thinking about this and thought it might be valuable to share. In the human behavior class I teach, we have a section that we talk about how "all of our senses influence us" and that the one that is often taken most for granted, is that of SMELL. Both positively and negatively. We were talking about how sometimes a memory that is repressed, can be brought to consciousness, through a smell. ANYWAY... it got me tothinking about smells related to dieting. I know that there are certain smells to definately steer away from (ie: Food type ones... vanilla, brown sugar, muffins etc). And there are some that are scientifically said to help energize, relax, ect.
I have found one that really seems to help me. It is the smell of the lotion I use on my son. It is a soft lavender one (made by J&J). Not only is the smell very soft. But it is a great reminder throughout the day of one of the main REASONS I am low-carbing.... my health! I want to be able to be an active mommy, and still alive and able to do all sorts of cool things when he is older. Since we chose to have children (well child at this point... but hopefully there will be more to come) later in life (mid-30's) I think this is ESPECIALLY important!!!! I want to be able to go white water rafting, camping, canoeing, trapse around a big metropolitan city with my son... and make it to all of his activities and events.
Anyway... just wanted to share that thought. And ask if there are smells that really HELP YOU!?!?! and how or why?
