I am SO happy with myself this week. After doing pretty much nothing and being tired all the time, I decided that I would simply re-create my life when I was young and THIN. When I was thin I ran every day, and worked out in the afternoon.
So...........I started running. I don't want to hurt myself, but walking ain't cutting it, I walk so much at work it doesn't feel like a workout, and when I ran I was thin. I am starting with 5 minutes, and when I can get through that I will up it by a minute at a time until I'm up to a half hour, then start increasing speed.
I'm doing 3.3 jogging-I'm short, so 3.3 speed is running for me!
I can breathe! I can run! I'm on my way!

WTG Caryn. Isn't it great to be able to run!!!! Since the end of September I have had the cardiologists permission to start running and am slowly adding it to my walk. I already walk 3.5mph but I was having trouble increasing the intensity but adding some running and stair climbing (big Niagara escarpment where I live) and it feels great.

WTG!!! I am so proud of you Caryn!!!!
I started running a couple of years ago and really enjoy it. I started with walking a 10K and gradually progressed to run/walking a half marathon. If I can do it ANYONE can!!!!! Then I found a new passion - belly dancing, go figure...... lol
All the best, Julie

WOW! Great job!!!!! I have NEVER been a "runner" (heck or exerciser for that matter...) I am HOPING that by this spring when the weather gets nice again, I too can become a "runner" or at least a "serious walker". I am always envious of those I see running, they just "look" healthy, and it is an exercise that costs next to nothing, and can be done anywhere, anytime.
Anyway... KEEP IT UP!!!!

That is so awesome to be able to run and feel good at the same time! Heck - if my family saw me running they would probably be looking to see where the fire is - hehe! Keep up the great work!!!!!!!! :agree:

Fast Forward a few days later, I'm already up another minute and increased speed!
This is something I actually look forward to when I come home, plus I don't have the added stress of not going to the gym I was paying $50 for. I feel like I'm accomplishing something, it feels great and powerful and enlightening.
I haven't wanted to keep doing something in a LONG time, guess it's the runners high!
