Hi All,
Anyone try the South Beach Bars? I brought the bars without even looking at the carb count. Once I got home and looked, each bar is 15 grams of carbs! I recently switched over to SB, so maybe i'm still in Atkins mode....

I think the general concensus is to stay away from the South Beach bars, or any other processed foods like that. Even though it's made by the same company, doesn't mean it's good for you.
On the rare occasions that you DO need to have one, treat it as a meal replacement, not as an additional snack.

:agree: Yup!! I agree with iceman!! I stay far away from any of those foods as they are amde with nasty things like sugar and corn syrup...thanks to Kraft making them. I've learned to not only look at carb count but to also read the ingredient labels to see just what I'm putting into my body.
The entire line of Kraft SBD foods is not our best choice. Even Dr Agatson said on the web site to use these foods in emergencies only and eat whole, fresh foods most of the time. So as iceman told you, use it when necessary but not often.
Good Luck!!

I am a culprit to the quick and easy foods too :( I've started eating these granola bars from quaker. They have 9g of sugar and 30ish carbs, 140 cals for each one.

Thanks for sharing Tim!!
You are not still trying to lose weight and what you eat now should not be confused with the actual SBD plan itself. If it works well for you to eat those, great!! But I would not recommend them to anyone who is trying to lose!!!
If you like the granola bars, have you tried the ones made by Kashi called TLC aka Tasty Little Chewy bars? They have much better ingredients than Quaker and each bag is two smaller bars for 80 cals each.

Judy I seen those Kashi bars at the store too. I seen something on the ingredient lists that scared me off though, I can't remember what it was though.

I agree with Judy. IF I want something like that ( and I am definitely in the losing mode - not maintaining) I will grab a Kashi bar. I love their products ie: cereal, crackers, bars etc...But you still need to be careful if you are going to eat them.

Having switched to SB from Atkins, I also still look at the carb counts on things as wellm but mainly 'out of interest'.
However, on a daily basis, I don't count the carbs. I also steer well clear of anything that is 'man-made' or processed, prefering to stick to a diet of whole, fresh foods. I'm sure that's why I've managed to see a loss of 30lb over the past 12 weeks  :)

yeah, i guess i'll leave them alone! i was just shocked at the high carb count for a low carb diet! i kept looking for extra things to take away from the carb like sugar alcohols or something! I'll just keep them on hand for extreme emergencies! It would also help if i finished reading the damn book! lol
thanks for the replies!
