Hi all... I'd like to poll people who've switched from another kind of low carb or low cal plan to South Beach - did reasonably well sticking to each, and didn't change a bunch else when switching to South Beach (like, didn't dramatically change amount of exercise).
When you switched to South Beach, what happened to your weight (over what amount of time)?
What were you on before? (Might be good to know approx. number of calories and carbs and whether it was high or low fat.)
What happened to your cholesterol (over what amount of time), if you know?
What happened with anything else about how you look or feel (that you consider is likely tied to diet)?
Thanks lots! (There should be an actual basic poll attached to this, but am interested in hearing people's answers in messages too of course.)

I switched from Atkins to CAD to SBD, have lost about the same rate as when I was on Atkins before that, Had gained while I was on CAD. Have lowered Cholesterol with help of Zetia (for the cholesterol in foods) and I am at almost a normal range (just a hint higher than 200 for the total cholesterol).
I have gained about 10 lbs back after my Hysterectomy and not sticking exactly to plan. I have a lot of things going on right now and I am sort of in a blah. I have about 15-20lbs to lose still to be at my goal weight.

My cholesterol and weight both went down. My bloodwork came back around 20% better in 4 months, and lost 30ish pounds as well.

I haven't been on South Beach long enough to notice any kind of a difference yet, but I'll be interested to see what other people have to say!

Well, I didn't switch from another plan. But I can tell you this: I've lost 37 lbs so far, dropped from a XXL to an XL shirt size, and my cholesterol is down. I can't isolate the cholesterol because I was in the 230 range, and started taking a statin. However after a month of statins I was down to the 180 range... After 3 months of dieting, I was down to I think 156. I'm guessing the diet and excercise contributed too.

I had great success with Atkins the first time around, and got to goal without a problem. Unfortunately, due to various factors, I ended up putting on all the weight I lost, plus more.
I then found it very difficult to lose any weight with Atkins over the next couple of years.
Finally, this summer I decided to switch to South Beach, having seen how successful Judynyc was with it. My body has responded well and I'm losing weight again, currently at around 10lbs per month. Looks like SB is turning into a successful weight loss program for me
I've also finally learned what I need to do to stay at goal and maintain my weight loss, and I'll be doing that with the help of South Beach :)

I also had a good success with Atkins, but 6 months in (after losing a good 50lbs) I had got stuck, and my weight would not budge. I stuck for a good few months and decided to go for another plan, I saw Judynyc had been having really great success on SB and so I did the switch. I have to say, after switching I lost 4lbs the first week and then lost steadily (averagely 1lb a week) until a few months ago. I lost another 40lbs since being on SB, and have got myself into another lull again, but I don't think that has anything to do with the plan, I just think my body gets use to being on a plan and therefore very smart at holding on to fat.
All in all, if one plan is not working for you, then SB very well might work and you will enjoy the variety of the plan too.
