I think I read somewhere that you can eat almonds on atkins. Is this true? I want some type of nuts as a snack during the day but I want one that is low in carbs.

you can't on induction, but you can incorporate a small amount of nuts after the first two weeks :) just dont overdo it though

The real nuts are, give or take, about the same in carbs/serving. (At least, that's the way I work my version of LC eating.) The problem comes in that it can be hard for some people not to go back to the bag, and a serving isn't all that much.
If you're good on portion control, have at them.
Peanuts are not real nuts, and cashews are a little different too, so they are each in their own carb category, BTW.

Hi,
I love almonds. I don't think you are in induction anymore so yes almonds are fine in moderation. I buy whole blanched raw almonds and then seperate them into baggies. I don't trust myself to eat them right out of the bag, it's easy to go overboard. I put exactly 15 in each small snack bag and keep them in the fridge. I don't have them everyday but I do snack on them once or twice a week.

Week three of OWL allows nuts and seeds, with almonds and macadamias being the more popular choices.

Some stall with Nuts. I happen to be one of the unfortunate!

Thanks for the replies. I bought a bag of almonds and I plan on eating not more than 10 a day. I just want to have that as my own little snack each day. Also I want to always ensure I have some with me so that I never get hungry to the point that I have to eat carbs.

It's the only food product on the planet that gets better in the glove box. Just shop carefully to get a kind that doesn't have added sugar. Sam's Club sells it in bulk, and I keep five or so sticks in the car all the time.
Useful for getting the attention of stray dogs that I'm trying to bring in off the road, too.
