I'm curious as to how you guys figure out what each of your mini goals should be. Is there a 'realistic' number of lost pounds in a certain amount of time? I guess what I'm asking is how do you know the # of days / # of pounds for each mini challenge/goal?

:help:

I've been thinking about this myself recently...I did mine totally as a guess-timate based on my previous tries at weight loss. I usualy lose 1 lb a week more or less so I based my time frame on that number. I'm getting a moderate amount of exercise, mostly from walking. If I was working out more as I have in the past i might expect to see a quicker loss (up to a point and then just more inches/re-shaping of areas). My loss is pretty uneven however so I think more in long term goals - 8 weeks or more becasue I can't expect to see a loss every week.

Can't wait to see the other responses! :)

the only real mini goal i'm setting for myself is to be in "onederland" before my fiance and i go see his family at thanksgiving. considering how things have been going, i don't think that's an unreasonable goal.

if i really pushed myself, i might get down to 180 before then. we'll see how things go with gym schedules and such.

I used to set mini-goals for certain amounts of time, but I never hit them! So then I got really vague about the time!

I'm unsure that if I challenged myself to a mini-goal of reaching onderland by Thanksgiving?? I know it's bad to weigh yourself every day but I can't help it, lol... I've only been on low carb for 3 days now. I lost 1# last night, and then I had to weigh again this morning like an idiot and I was down 2 more pounds. I imagine that's just 'morning weight', so I'm not going to change my stats.

15# loss might be attainable in 43 days... what do y'all think? :q:

I usually figure on 2 pounds a week, but I've historically lost an average of 3 pounds a week whenever I've dieted.

So, I go to fitday.com, plug in the weight I want to be by the date I want to be it, and see if the average loss i would need to sustain to get there is doable!

I also set a more controllable goal, like walking everyday, or not cheating, so I'm proud of something if the scale doesn't behave.

I LOVE setting little goals, it keeps me going over the long haul instead of looking down the long tunnel at the ultimate prize.

Being cheat free is the best one for me, because even if I don't meet my scale goals, I know it will happen eventually.

GOOD Luck!

I think its possible, other folks have likely done it.

I started at the same weight you did, get moderate exercise from walking, have been really on plan (ok expect for those four days!grrr!), and it took me 10 weeks to lose 15 lbs (lost 8 of those the first three weeks)

Don't beat yourself up if you don't hit the mark by thanksgiving. Like pennink says: set other goals and work towards them because sometimes the scale is not going to show your hard work. Also, consider taking measurments - sometimes you lose inches without losing pounds and vice versa.

*grin* thanks... honestly, i'm not sure if they'll notice. not that they're oblivious, far from it, but we only see them once a year and i don't know if they'll realize.

what i'm REALLY wondering is that if we go out this weekend, whether friends who haven't seen me in 2 months will notice or not. fiance hasn't said anything yet, but i know he's proud of me for being "good", and he honestly enjoys my body no matter how i look.

If you are 200 by then - a 30 pounds loss is noticeable.
