I have noticed a lot of promotion for berry- veg.-and super foods extracts. Has anyone here tried them? Do any contain fruit alcohols or high carb content? I am asking this from the prospective that Natural Vitimines are better than Syn.

I take a supplement for retina protection that's a colored-food extract and majorly processed capsule. I don't do any of the drinks or superfoods. Just can't be bothered to go there yet. Maybe will, but I sure wish I could see info that was hype-free first.

And WRT your natural vs synthetic question: It matters greatly on the compounds that are chiral, and IMO, much less on the ones that aren't. So it would depend on why you are taking the supplement. I don't know that there are synthetic equivalents of algae on the market. What vitamins are you wanting from the product?

Hello Cs,
I am taking the supplements for various reasons. Example: D3 for sunlight substute.C for Immune system...etc. B(s) for depression/prevention...etc. Ginko for clarity of thought.L-tyrosine, L-phenylaline, PABA for Vitiligo and mental engerizer...etc. A for the eyes and retina, infection fighter, skin protector....etc...etc
Could you explain the word " chiral" as used in the reference. I have ordering Algae (spirulina) from Amazon.com to begin the substution for a multivit. and I am also looking into sprouts-My idea is to go natural and move away from the syn-as much as possible-but I am ignorant concerning the fruit alcohols and the carb content of Berry/Veg. extracts.

GNC, LEF, and others would probably have good equivalents

Hello Mike,
No, I have not contacted the any manufactures-but it is a good idea. The reason I am concerned is that I have been on M/E for over 2 months now and allow for very little carb content. I did put cheese back on the menue due to a stall-and the needed fat. It worked.

I was going to send this as a private message -- but you exceeded your private message space.

What part of N.C. are you from?

I live in Raleigh but travel all over. I have a lot of relatives from around Rockingham / Uwharrie Forest area. My sister has a vacation rental house at Chimney Rock / Lake Lure.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Glad to help.

I wonder if you have any improvement in your vitiligo? Mine started about 40 years ago and never found anything that slowed it down. My skin specialist had me on PABA but I never saw any improvement. I think I did not burn so bad. I wear sunscreen everyday, "everyday" now for about 30 years. When the vitiligo started I got some really bad sunburns which did not heal well and turned into sores. So I did not have any trouble remembering to apply sunscreen.
