I seem to be ignorance concerning Vit B. I realize that the B's work together but cannot determine the ratio. Atkins (vit.and supplements) states that they should be the same ratio but then while dealing with specific problems he states different doses amounts for those various problems. I have also read that B5 should be taken with a higher dose ratio? Any help you can give will be welcomed.

Here is my daily intake of b:
1.Folic Acid 1600 mcg.
2.B6 200 mg
3.B2 150 mg
4.B12 500mg
5 B3 (Niacin) 1000mg
6. B1 250mg
7.Super B complex (Spring Valley)
Any suggestions?

B vitamins can be very difficult to get right and can't be done through a combo pill(s). That's because most pills aren't in effective ratios and many contain ineffective forms of specific Bs. Also if the ratios, amounts, and forms were correct, they would comprise several horse pills. Further Bs are not a one size fits all. Too much can be detrimental and balance of one against another is important. Bs need to be tailored to the individual...it's probably why no one replied.
The science of Bs would take a book.
Therefore my best advice is to do research on your own of the different Bs and their optimum forms and doses and apply those to your own symptoms/needs.

Ahh Zuleikaa, that makes sense why so many people complain that they cannot tolerate taking a combo B-Complex - the components are OFF balanced.
I tried to take B complex a long while ago and switched between different formulas but I never felt comfortable. The only B's I found to benefit my everyday diet are Biotin, Niacin & Folic Acid.
deanmoore, I wonder since you listed Super B complex - do you take the other B's to balance out the ratio?
Here is my daily intake of b:

3.B2 150 mg
4.B12 500mg

Thank you Zule. and Keba.
I think I now have the right ratio as I am comparing Atkins suggestions and the listes pages. My higher doses are for specific problems and preventions-but this is an on going adjustment.
