While this is by no means scientific, I recently had a bout of
extreme flatulence and was eventually diagnosed with
diverticulitis. Supposedly diverticulitis is aggravated by
seeds, nuts and popcorn hulls. Perhaps your celery seeds are
irritating the diverticula, if you have any. madelaine

As madelaine noted, the seeds can collect in diverticuli,
which I do have but so far not diverticulitis, so I use the
*ground* seed and it seems to work fine. I sprinkle a bit of
the ground seed on nearly all vegetables as well as Parsley
flakes and find that if I put a pinch of each in the strainer
basket and add the coffee grounds on top of them the
difference in taste is negligable and I still reap the rewards
of both. Yes, I still drink decaf but very weak.
You perbably already know this but many people who are
sensative to milk, as I am, will nearly blow up with
flatulance to the extent of gas pains. Milk and cheeses are
very constipating to many people. I think that one should have
BM's some time after each meal. That is my goal, but if I
consume milk and cheese I will get messed up. Since milk is in
nearly all processed foods, I find it necessary to take some
lactate tablets (Like Lataid or DairyAid.) if milk is
suspected.
You may also be sensitive to other foods, like red meats,
tomatoes, most peppers, etc. I use DGL (Google that) and it is
very good for acid protection so helps digestion. leo
