I went through a "can't stand eggs phase" I either do a few rashers of bacon nuked in the microwave - or.......diet jelly with cream

One of the favourite breakfasts around the forum is the Mock Danish. You'll find it in the Recipe Section under Breakfasts.
There are no rules that say you have to have traditional breakfast type foods at breakfast. How about cheese or cold meat.
Today I had Spinach and a small Steak!

I agree with Marlaine, who says you have to eat breakfast food for breakfast??? :q:
I enjoy meat and veggies for breakfast quite often. This morning I had a ground beef patty with some zucchini - tasted wonderful!

Being an adult is great isn't it?
I mean we can have anything we want to eat anytime a day ;) (within reason of course)
We can have dinner for breakfast or breakfast for dinner and our mom's don't yell at us!

Tarah-I agree that you should try the Mock Danish, it is wonderful!! Also try the Fake French Toast, it turned out GREAT!! If you really can't stand the eggs, then don't worry about it just have another protein item in it's place. Making it something you enjoy will help you continue on this WOE. Good luck.

or make enough dinner the night before and have leftover whatever
I love leftover noodle-free lasagna--reminds me of having leftover pizza for breakfast!
do get protein, is all--an avacado isn't ideal because of that, but if you stuffed it with grated cheese, it'd be good

Put the avocado in the refrigerator to stop it's ripening while you're on induction. It'll probably keep. If it doesn't, it's not worth going off plan for. There will always be more avocados. ;)
I had a pork chop and fresh baby spinach with butter for breakfast this morning. I especially love fresh or smoked fish for breakfast. Sometimes, when I'm in a rush I'll eat tuna salad or egg salad that I've made in advance. (Egg salad doesn't bother me as much as eggs in other formations).
I'm with agonycat and Marlaine -- I love being a grownup and I'll eat whatever I please!

Tarah, yes, they are trees from Central America, originally, though most of what you'd eat in North American is grown in California. "Avacado" is from an Aztec word meaning "testicle"--I can imagine the gals sitting around fixing food who giggled when they decided one looked like the other and so re-named the fruit.

I should not eat avocado during induction?

Tarah they are a bit high in carbs for induction hun.
They have anywhere from 10 to 15 grams per fruit. So depending on how big it is, you could almost shoot your entire day's budget of carbs on one item. :)
You could make some guacomole out of it and freeze it until induction is over with. Just make sure you use lemon or lime juice in it to keep it from turning that icky brown color :)

Tarah-according to the Dr. Adkins New Carb Counter an avocado is a fruit which consists of:
California avocado 1/2 = 6.5 grams carbs
Florida avocado 1/2 = 13.5 grams carbs
There, does that help sweetie? :there:

YES.......you may have avocado on induction. Atkins lists it in DANDR on the list of "Vegetables In Addition to Salad Vegetables" in the allowable induction foods, so it's a definate GO!!
Enjoy!

NEWS FLASH!
In the new edition of DANDR, avocados are OK during induction. In his sample induction menu, he recommends 1/2 and avocado as part of breakfast.
I strongly suggest that all Atkins followers read the new edition. It is jam packed with information.

News Flash #2
Avocados are FRUITS, not vegetables. Just as olives are fruits, and tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis and peppers too. If it contains the seed(s) .. it's a fruit ;)

Wow! I've got to get this new edition. To think of all the avocado-less breakfasts I've had .....
Does buying books from the links here support the site?

hi Lesley,
Yes unfortunately for you ... Atkins' newest book was released on December 4th '01. It has a white cover. His previous New Diet Revolution was 1992 (with a revision in 1999). This newest book is more specific, more defined do's and don'ts for Induction, more science and research.
Allison .. yes, if the book links are from here, then it benefits the site. You can find all of the lowcarb books listed (and linked to Amazon.com) on our LowCarb Books webpage, from the orange menu bar at the top. Currently, Atkins' newest book is available for $7.99US
