I don't get it....

I'm checking out new doctors (my old physician took on a more specialized practice) and I might have found one....someone new in the community but not inexperienced...(17 yrs as an ER doctor; original specialty in internal medicine and nutrition/natural prevention)...and while in conversation I casually mentioned that I am hypothyroid and take other supplements to enhance my prescription levothyroxine...but have had a lot of trouble in this, and hoped that maybe I could get someone to prescribe a more natural medicine....he suggested that I take a little melatonin to help out. I never heard that one before; I thought it was to help regulate sleep patterns....

Like I said...I don't get it......has anyone heard of this?

This is a really interesting site too, but doesn't seem to think Melatonin is a good thing....

It does seem that there is a relationship between melatonin and the thyroid gland, but you're right...it seems unclear as to whether this is a good thing......

Thanks....anyone else know anything??
