I was just wondering 2 things about these
Are generic multivitamins ok? Is there really a difference what brand you get?
The RDA amounts seem to be the same.
and
Since I am a menstruating woman, do I still need to take a multi without iron?
Thanks :)

Yes, most of us have too much iron. Take a supplement without iron if at all possible. If it's not possible, give blood to keep your iron levels in check.
Any good multi without iron is fine. I use Kirkland's since my employers sells it at a discount.

IMHO, no. There is a ton of research that goes into what are the best forms for different functions.
For example, here is magnesium:
Magnesium Ultra provides a variety of the most beneficial forms and amounts of magnesium, an essential mineral, including:
The malate form, which blends magnesium and malic acid, a nutrient that assists in the process of transforming food into energy
The chelate form, which is organic, better absorbed and more powerful
The oxide form, which is used very often and may impart a laxative effect
The taurinate form, which is derived from the amino acid taurine, and may benefit fat absorption, cellular stability, the regulation of the heart beat and may prevent brain cells from over-exertion
Sorry, I don't have time to provide the background that I should.

There are many other patented forms of vitamins that you can look into:

click on some of the companies listed on the web page above. You will see that they have found ways to improve how the body uses a certain supplement. For a vitamin manufacturer to use that form -- they have to pay for it.
Note: I am not saying that Vitacost/NSI is the best. I am saying that vitacost / LEF / GNP are more expensive, but higher quality product than many of the generics.
Another good website is

they do a ton of research and have very high quality also.
