Well I am off to buy some green tea capsules as I have read it can help with weight loss. I am looking at a few different ones and was wondering. Is it Green Tea or EGCG that I should be looking for?? There are a couple I am considering and wondered if someone could tell me what looks like a better product!

EGCg Capsules (http://www.nowfoods.com/index.php?action=itemdetail&item_id=42834)

Green Tea Extract Capsules (http://www.nowfoods.com/index.php?action=itemdetail&item_id=78133)

I appreciate any help as I would like to get them and start today!

Thanks

You have to watch what brand you buy, because some only contain very little EGCG... There was a report on it not too long ago.

I find AOR a very good brand and recommend them, I know someone that formulated a lot of their stuff when he worked there... so the products are safe and contains what it says on the bottle :)

Search for AOR EGCG

Thanks for the reply! I live in a small rural town and the 2 listed above are what I have access to and was just looking at which is the better one. The lady I spoke to said Canada has strict policies and I can be assured that what the bottle says is true.

I will look online for what you recommended but would appreicate anyone elses help in regards to the 2 items listed aboce.

Thanks

Hi kickrz,

I know you said you live in a "small rural town" but is there an area you can travel to find an Asian neighborhood? I ask because I go into a nearby Asian area and buy my green tea buy the bulk form an Asian market. It comes in big barrels and you can buy as much as you want? It's fresh, cheap and pure. I buy a big bulk, put it in my own containers - to last me a season (at least).

I drink green tea morning, noon & night, winter, spring, summer & fall, hot & cold.

* I have a friend who lives in Canada and he loves to cook authentic Indian food. He travels to an area over an hour away and buys his pure Indian ingredients there. He does plan this out and stocks up enough to last a long while. Something’s are worth the trip!

Well I am sure I could find something if I travel over an hour away which at this time isn't going to happen. However I will look next time I am there.

I do have another question for Whoa182 or anyone else that knows.
The capsules you suggested have 700mg per pill. I thought the recommended dosage was 125-500mg a day?? Can someone please clarify what is a safe daily intake??

Thanks again

EGCG is the main catechin that is thought to be effective against many diseases... and per capsule there is 315mg of it. I don't think there is any upper limits established... I take 2-3 a day and no problems.... Plus I drink like 5-10 cups of green tea a day

In studies it seems to work in a dose dependant manner, so the more the better, apparently.

nOT TRYING to be a know it all or a downer here- just a suggestion to be careful with these- they made me :Puke: really bad. Apparently there is a chemical similarity to the asthma drug theophylline which some people are allergic to. That said, I've also seen them work very well for people, but I have to restrict my intake to just drinking a little green tea here and there.

And green tea capsules can cause heavy menstrual bleeding in some.
