Yeah, I agree that great abs are made in the kitchen. Fat fish seems to be ok now, along with whole eggs (not just the whites) and bagels are bad, maybe slow progress is being made? When preparing eggs, try to avoid using butter, which adds unnecessary saturated fat. :p

Oh puleeze! Yogurt, apples, soy, eggs, and salmon. But don't put butter on any of them! (Aside: butter on apples .... hmmmm ....).
Soy, the most genetically engineered "food" source available.
Oops. I guess "no comment" really is a comment. Oh well.

Fat-free yogurt is generally full of sugar, which if anything stimulates weight gain in the belly. I eat full-fat Greek yogurt, which ends up only having about 6-8 carbs per cup. If you've ever looked at the carb and sugar content of low-fat and fat-free yogurt, you may as well eat a big honkin' piece of chocolate cake!
As BawdyWench said, soy is genetically engineered-not to mention that farmers feed soy to animals to fatten them up.

Yup.
I'm going to have to try Greek yogurt. I hear about it all the time, but here in Maine it's hard to come by such "exotic" foods!
In the original post Mike suggested that maybe slow progress is being made. Yea, if you think one step forward and two steps back is progress!
Thanks, Mike, for posting the article and giving me a good laugh!

I have noticed the plain "Brown Cow" is often sold out-- I have to dig thru the mountan of low and fat-free flavored cups to find some though. Maybe some people have a clue, then again this is a military town and ppl need to be fit.

Some Hannaford Markets sell Greek Yogurt. They're based in Maine, I think. There are a few in the Northern suburbs of Boston, and I was impressed at their selection of organic products (better than most Shaw's and Stop & Shop's).

Thanks, I'll look. I'm in rural Maine, though, and our Hannaford's is teeny. Still, they've been bringing in some new products, like my beloved Irish butter! I'll definitely look next time!

If you take ordinary yogurt and strain it through muslin or a coffee filter for an hour or two, then what you're left with is pretty much Greek yogurt.

I don't know about greek yogurt. But straining yogurt through cheesecloth leaves it with a taste and consistancy of sour cream. Too bad the article didn't offer any theories about the weight gain. I think mostly it's because of the diet mentality. Diet till you lose the weight, then go back to eating too much. In the back of your mind is the idea that you can always go back on a diet.
Also as we age our metabolism slows while our diet doesn't adjust for that. The older you are, the less exercise you get.

FYI Greek yoghurt is also called "Balkan style yoghurt" in some areas.

I tried some Greek yogurt which was partly made of goat's milk. It was yummy. It reminded me slightly of feta (make sense both are made from goat’s milk).

Literally, no comment! haha
No really, if I ate apples and fat free yogurt I'd definitely go on an eating spree, not to mention the horrible reaction it would have on my bg!!
