make sure you are not anemic - either from low-iron or b-vit or a metabolic problem -

Are you doing everything else right? Eating good food, balanced within the suggestions of a LC plan, resting, handling stress?

Food intolerances come to my mind--gluten is my big one.

I'm not anemic according to the tests. The only thing they could find is that I have a heart murmur. Maybe that's it? I guess I'm on the right track with LC anyway...

I do rest a lot, though not at regular times it's true.
Recently, I've been cheating on the plan and just got back on now, but the fatigue is from way before that.

Right now I'm just taking a multi and a vit B.

How much coQ10 should you take? I've been taking 100mg, is that right?

With a heart murmur...definitely CoQ10,

Any other suggestions for diet/vitamins? I'm a little worried about this, but do not want to go the medical route until I have fully explored supplements/diet...

How much coQ10 should you take? I've been taking 100mg, is that right? How much CoQ10 you take depends on age and health. I think anyone 50+ should take 200 mg a day. If you have heart disease I suggest taking 300-400 mg a day. Under 50 100 mg a day would be fine.

CoQ10 should be taken in divided doses at least twice a day.

2 potassium, 99 mg
2-3 Oregano oil, 150 mg
1 Vitamin C, 1,000 mg
1 Ester C,1000
2-3 Omega oils (contains borage, flax and fish oils)

Once a day
zinc, 50 mg

Dr. A's Vitanutrient Solution is a good place to start. The Life Extention Foundation has a lot of material, too.

The bigger point: There is no one thing that's going to work for fatigue. It's too general, and caused by too many things. Some of us on this list regularly take 40-60 pills a day and don't think twice about it. Personally, I'm gambling on better health when I'm 80, but I could get hit by a truck tomorrow. My liver will be in great shape, though.

There are some difficult diagnoses that can generate fatigue. Some doctors are better than others at helping you work through a decision tree.

Yeah, I know fatigue is a pretty general symptom...I'm just looking for new things to try. I've been wanting to get into supplements for some time, but it's hard to know where to start.

Honestly though, I'm pretty sure it's my heart and/or adrenals that is causing the problems for me.

Ummmm.... we are not doctors.... that's a pretty important muscle to be diagnosing over the internet... can you get a reliable opinion on that?

I write, knowing next year's medical adventure IS going to be a full heart work-up for me. I know I have a heart murmur; I also have a congenital heart deformity and I want to learn if there are old-age implications that could be treated now. YMMV. (This year's adventure is knee surgery, BTW.)

Get Dr. A's book about vitamins. It's the best $15 you're going to spend in this area--then you can make a much more informed decision about what you need. He steps through symptoms and suggested treatments and it's all very clear and understandable and not at all polemic, the way some vitamin books are. The Vitanutrient Solution. I've seen it on the "discount" racks at Barnes and Noble, so you can probably find it for almost free on abe.com.

whoa, that is a lot of pills!

any suggestions for Addison's disease as well?? :)Lots of vitamin D. Addison's disease is an autoimmune disease strongly linked to vitamin D receptors and vitamin D deficiency.

Request a 25(OH)D or 25-hydroxy vitamin D test to get your vitamin D levels tested.

A B-50 or B-100 tablet. They have tons of B vitamins in high doses and can kick you into gear. I have less energy when I forget my B-50.
