I know during induction, you tend to lose a lot. Overtime, the numbers give you a clear indication of how quickly your body is willing to let go of the excess fat. While some weeks may be faster than others, and other very slow, my average weight lost, when I was 17, was around 0.625 lbs. per day. Basically, that's 75 lbs (total), which I lost over 120 days. Might it change with my age? I'm getting suspicious that I'll have a harder time losing that weight because I'm 21/22 right now.

I'm also just curious about everybody else's situation.

Metabolism can slow for many reasons, and for many, the older you get, the more your metabolism slows down. This could indeed hinder weight loss.

But dude, at 21/22, you're still a young pup. Work the plan, and plan your work, and you should have no problem losing.

I started Atkins at 39 years old, and I lost quite well during induction 3 years ago.

Good luck, relax, and dont overthink thinks too much.

you're still so young! i bet you'll do fine. i've heard that each subsequent attempt at this WOE produces a slower result in some, but for me, that's not the case---and for others too.

good luck!

I'm 56 and have been LCing since 2000.

Love it.

For a recent vacation I lost 12 lbs. between April 5 and May 3, that's about 3 lbs. a week.

Normally though I lose holiday weight at the rate of 2 lbs. a week.

at your age, I'd think weight loss should be faster than that. Looks like you were averaging about 4.5 lbs. a week.

Last time I did Atkins (2 years ago) I lost about 1 pound per week eating about 40 carbs/day. This time I am eating closer to 20 carbs/day and I am losing about 2 pounds per week. I was losing a pound every other day when I did strict M&E (5 carbs/day) but lately I have been eating cheese and the occasional vegetable.

3 pounds a week is normal for me, but I've got a lot of loose. A good goal is 1% of your body weight per week. I set a more modest goal of a pound per week, so that I can be pleasantly surprised by my over achievement. I am watching my calories per that one pound per week goal... and loosing three. Walking helps, I suppose.

2-3 lbs is normal depending on your exercise level.

Your metabolism should be high throughout your 20s--21/22 is too young to worry about a slow down.

I'm in my early 30s and I just calculated my loss today. Over 8 months, I lost an average of 1.5lb per week. Of course, it's not like every week I lost 1.5lbs. I had some weeks where I lost 10 followed by 3 weeks of no loss at all or even yo-yoing within the 10lb loss as my body got used to the new weight.

Thanks guys. I'm just wondering because it's been slow for me lately. I gained 1.8 lbs since yesterday morning (24 hours). I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what, but I've never had such huge set backs ever. It's normally very consistant, and rarely any gains.

When weight loss seems to stall check your measurements. I'm averaging about 3 lbs. per week but have lost 20 1/4 inches overall <neck to ankles> in a little over a month. Don't weigh everyday. You'll go crazy!

.6 lbs per day is fantastic!!

For me, now that I am only 10lbs from goal, I am losing about 1lb every week or two. I am pretty much in OWL phase.

My weight can fluctuate 1 to 3 lbs in a day, depending on water in-take, food consumption, exercise, etc.

I do weigh every day in the morning before coffee. It helps me "set the clock" for the day's menu.

If I'm up a pound, I'll go light that day, if down, I'll have a regular day, food-wise.

I've been LC-ing for 6 and half years, when I get too indulgent, I go back into Induction till I get back down to my goal weight.

Daily morning weighing before the nightly fast is broken has helped me.

LilHellion, I have been on Atkins 3 months but it seems that now I only lose maybe if I'm lucky 1 pound a week.

Could my weight lifting be hindering the lbs from coming off? I don't think muscle tissue could grow that fast to replace fat that quickly.

Are you working out? You are also very close to goal! Yay for you! They say it goes slower once you get near your goal. They also say that's a good thing as it should result in more permanent loss. YOU are doing terrific!

LilHellion: thanks I needed that. It's coming off very slow but like Atkins says I'm never hungry and I don't have a need to cheat. This is a way of life.

Remember muscle weighs more than fat so even if it's not a 1:1 basis in terms of muscle mass growing per loss of fat mass, it could 'seem' like you're no loosing alot but in reality you are simply becming more muscular.

I just want to interject something. Dont live by the scale, use measurements, video, and fat calipers.
